MIA Update: The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced 17 identification updates for service members who have been missing and unaccounted for from World War II and the Korean War. Returning home for burial with full military honors are:

-- Army Pfc. Joseph C. Murphy, 20, of Bogalusa, Louisiana, was a member of Company I, 31st Infantry Regiment. He was among those captured in 1942, and later died as a prisoner of war. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Private Jacob Gutterman was a member of the 803rd Engineer Battalion, Aviation. He was among those captured in the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Air Forces Private Robert W. Cash was a member of the 28th Materiel Squadron, 20th Air Base Group. He was among those captured in the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Tech. Sgt. Charles E. Young Jr. was a member of the 429th Signal Maintenance Company, Aviation. He was among those captured in the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Sgt. Sam A. Prince was a member of Headquarters Battery, 200th Coast Artillery Regiment. He was among those captured in the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942. Interment services are pending

-- Army Corporal Raymond N. DeCloss was member of Company C, 194th Tank Battalion. He was among those captured in the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Air Forces Sgt. Jack H. Hohlfeld was a member of Headquarters Squadron, 24th Pursuit Group. He was among those captured in the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Pvt. 1st Class Arlie P. Barrett was a member of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He went missing in action on Aug. 10, 1950, and the Army declared his remains non-recoverable on Jan. 16, 1956. Interment services are pending. Read about Barrett.
-- Army Sgt. Charles E. Beaty was a member of Item Company, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Dec. 3, 1950. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Sgt. John P. Ryhter was a member of Battery A, 82nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He went missing in action in December 1950, and the Army issued a presumptive finding of death on Jan. 16, 1956. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Corporal Jesse L. Mitchell was a member of C Company, 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He went missing in action in December 1950, and died while a prisoner of war in the summer of 1951. Interment services are pending. Read about Mitchell.
-- Army Pfc. Charles A. Vorel Jr. was a member of Baker Company, 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on July 16, 1950, and declared non-recoverable in January 1956. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Corporal William Colby was a member of Dog Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Dec. 2, 1950. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Sgt. Kester B. Hardman was a member of M Company, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He went missing in action in April 1951, and reportedly died while a prisoner of war that same year. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Sgt. 1st Class Israel Ramos was a member of D Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He went missing in action on Aug. 31, 1950, and was determined to be non-recoverable on Jan. 16, 1956. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Corporal Edward J. Smith was a member of Baker Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He went missing in action on Aug. 31, 1950. Interment services are pending.

-- Army Sgt. Clayton M. Pierce was a member of D Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was reported killed in action on Dec. 1, 1950. Interment services are pending.

MIA Update: The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced seven burial updates for service members who have been missing and unaccounted for from World War II. Returning home for burial with full military honors are:

-- Navy Gunners Mate First Class George Herbert, 37, of Fall River, Massachusetts, was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. He was among 429 crewmen killed that day. He was buried in Igo, California, on May 30, 2024.

-- Army Pvt. 1st Class Bartholomew C. Loschiavo, 24, of Buffalo, New York, was assigned to Company A, 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division. He was killed in action on Oct. 1, 1944. He was buried in his hometown on June 1, 2024. Read about Loschiavo.
-- Army Air Forces Pvt. 1st Class Charles R. Powers, 18, of Riverside, California, was a member of 28th Materiel Squadron, 20th Air Base Group. He was among those captured in the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942, and died as a prisoner of war on July 18 that same year. He will be buried in his hometown on July 18, 2024.

-- Army Pvt. 1st Class Manuel Trujillo, 22, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, served in Battery C, 200th Coast Artillery Regiment. He was among those captured in the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942, and died as a prisoner of war on July 26 that same year. He will be buried in his hometown on July 26, 2024.

-- Army Sergeant Mayburn L. Hudson, 21, of Roanoke, Virginia, was assigned to Company F, 2nd Battalion, 330th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on Aug. 7, 1944, and the War Department issued a report of death in January 1945. He will be buried in Lynchburg, Virginia, on Aug. 7, 2024.

-- Army Air Forces 1st Lt. Bruce H. Brown, 23, of Richmond, California, was assigned to the 401st Bombardment Squadron, 91st Bombardment Group, Eighth Air Force. His B-17 bomber was struck by anti-aircraft fire on Dec. 20, 1942, and the War Department issued a finding of death on Dec. 20, 1943. He will be buried in Houston, Texas, on a date to be determined.

-- Army Air Forces Pvt. 1st Class Orville J. Cox, 19, of Haskell, Texas, was a member of 34th Pursuit Squadron, 24th Pursuit Group. He was killed in action on Feb. 8, 1942. He will be buried in his hometown on a date to be determined.

-- Army Pvt. 1st Class Bryan Myers Jr., 21, of Cobden, Illinois, was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was killed in action in September 1950. He will be buried in Elwood, Illinois, on a date to be determined.

-- Navy Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class Charles D. Brown, 22, of Arcola, Illinois, was assigned to the battleship USS West Virginia, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. He was among 106 crewmen killed that day. He will be buried on April 20, 2024, in Humboldt, Illinois.

-- Navy Seaman 2nd Class George T. George, 26, of St. Louis, Missouri, was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. He was among 429 crewmen killed that day. He will be buried on May 13, 2024, at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), Honolulu, Hawaii.

-- Army Pvt. 1st Class Anthony J. Lopa, 17, of North Arlington, New Jersey, was a member of Delta Battery, 82nd Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was killed in action on Aug. 31, 1950. He will be buried in Wrightstown, New Jersey, on a date to be determined.

-- Army Private 1st Class Harold D. Wilder, 19, of Pennington Gap, Virginia, was a member of L Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on July 11, 1950. Interment services are pending.

The family of ADJ3 Steve Adrian Garrett, USN, Vietnam Veteran, Wilson, OK, has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to stand a Flag/Respect line at his service to be held 2:00 Monday 22 April 2024 at SN Billy Turner Veteran Cemetery, Ardmore, Ok

We will accompany ADJ3 Garrett family and friends from Alexander-Gray Funeral Home, Wilson, OK to SN Billy Turner Veteran Cemetery, Ardmore, Ok for services and burial with Military Honors.

ADJ3 (Aviation Machinist’s Mate Jet Engine Mechanic) Garrett served 2 tours in Vietnam.
His decorations are: National Defense
Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/One Star

Military Honors will be conducted by the Navy Honor Guard
