This is art, not AI! “People Watching” is the newest public artwork in OKC Arts' collection. Find these two oversized scissor-tailed flycatchers in Lower Scissortail Park near SW 15th Street and Robinson.

“People Watching” artist Matthew Mazzotta, in a way, completed the Park’s art story. “Light as a Feather” can be seen on the north side, SkyDance Bridge connects the park, and now “People Watching” caps it off with our state bird.

The newest sculptures were funded through OKC’s 1% for Art ordinance and private donations from the Scissortail Park Foundation.

We want your help. The community is invited to help name a new, larger-than-life sculpture to be installed outside the MAPS 4-funded OKC Louisa McCune Animal Welfare Center.

The new center is currently under construction behind the existing facility.

People can view a rendering of the artwork and vote for their favorite name among these four finalists at https://vision.okc.gov/naming-okc-animal-welfare-art.

Voting closes June 30, 2026. The name with the most votes will be the sculpture’s official title when it's installed – scheduled for late fall.
