Today, we had the distinct privilege of hosting Tunnel to Towers Foundation Steel Across America tour. We held a special ceremony to welcome a historic piece of structural steel recovered from the World Trade Center towers following the September 11, 2001 attacks.

This moving exhibit serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made on that fateful day and the resilience of our nation. We are incredibly grateful to Tunnel to Towers for their commitment to keeping the promise to "Never Forget," and to everyone who joined us to pay their respects.

LOOK PAST THE CAR. SEE THE MOTORCYCLE.

One of the most common and deadly motorcycle crashes occurs when a driver turns left in front of an oncoming motorcycle.

Why does it happen?

A motorcycle may be traveling behind or beside another vehicle in the opposite lane. The driver waiting to turn left sees the larger vehicle, but never notices the motorcycle hidden behind it. When the larger vehicle passes, the driver begins their turn—directly into the path of the motorcycle.

For Drivers:

Look beyond the first vehicle you see.
Scan for motorcycles before committing to a left turn.
Take an extra second—it could save a life.

For Motorcyclists:

Don't assume you've been seen.
Increase your following distance when behind other vehicles.
Change your lane position to improve your visibility.
Cover your brakes and be prepared for vehicles turning left.

A motorcycle can be hidden from view for only a moment. Unfortunately, that moment can change lives forever.

🏍️ Ride visible.
đźš— Drive alert.
🤝 Share the road.

Whether you're walking, driving, or biking we all share the responsibility of keeping Oklahoma City's streets safe.

đź‘€ Drivers: Stay alert, especially near crosswalks, schools, neighborhoods, and busy intersections. Put the phone down and watch for pedestrians.

🚶 Pedestrians: Use designated crosswalks when available, obey traffic signals, and make yourself visible—especially at night.

⚠️ A few extra seconds of attention can prevent a lifetime of regret.

We investigate far too many crashes involving pedestrians, and many of them are preventable. Slow down, stay aware, and look out for one another OKC.

When reports came in that one person was chasing another and a firearm was involved, every second mattered.

Our Real Time Information Center (RTIC) quickly launched a drone to get eyes on the situation and provide responding officers with real-time information. RTIC personnel were able to track movements, relay critical details, and help officers safely locate the individuals involved.
