Vaccines help protect patients, healthcare team members, correctional staff, and the communities they return to.

In jails, where people live in close contact and movement is constant, access to vaccines helps prevent illness and supports healthier outcomes.

Learn why vaccine education, informed choice, and compassionate healthcare matter in correctional settings.

Getting vaccines in jail helps reduce the risk of outbreaks and supports healthier outcomes for patients during their time in custody and after.

Have you met Judson Black?

Judson, a Float EMT at Loudon County Jail in Lenoir City, Tennessee, was called to a unit where a patient undergoing detox protocol was not feeling well. Vital signs indicated a significant drop in blood pressure. The patient asked to use the restroom, at which time Judson noted blood mixed with the patient's stool.

Justin called Donna Chisholm, FNP, and they decided to send the patient to the ER. The patient was diagnosed with a life-threatening GI bleed.

“Thanks to Judson's excellent history and skills, as a provider, I was able to make the decision to send the patient to have further diagnostics,” Donna said. “Our frontline staff member should certainly be commended for his excellent presentation regarding this patient.”

Excellent work, Judson!
