Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) helps central Oklahoma individuals and families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Our shared vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Hard-working, limited-income individuals and families in need of decent and affordable housing partner with COHFH. Our future homeowners build their own homes alongside v

olunteers as a part of their 100 hours of “sweat equity” as they work to build a better life for themselves and their families. COHFH’s Critical Home Repair (CHR) program also helps limited-income homeowners who struggle to maintain their homes due to limitations related to income, age, disabilities or other circumstances. Homeowners who partner with COHFH’s CHR program contribute 70 hours of “sweat equity” working side by side with volunteers and staff on their home repair/improvements. COHFH is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that builds 35 homes a year through our New Home Construction program. affiliates, COHFH has built over 1,130 homes in the past 36 years, while our CHR program has helped repair/winterize over 800 homes. As a charitable organization, COHFH relies on volunteers and donations in order to survive. Oklahoma homebuilders and home supply professionals are among our biggest sources of support. Donations of usable building supplies help Habitat families build their homes or are sold through our two ReStore retail outlets. Donations of gently used home furnishings and other items are also sold at our ReStores. All proceeds are used to fund our CHR program. All donations are tax-deductible. If you want COHFH to pick up your donations for free, call 595-2828. For more information: www.cohfh.org or call 405-232-4828.

Join us in congratulating Heather on her new home! 🏡💚

Last week, Heather celebrated the dedication of her new Habitat home in Cornerstone Creek alongside her parents, one of her daughters, and the community that supported her throughout her journey.

As a single mother working in health care, Heather never expected finding a safe, affordable home would become one of the biggest challenges facing her family. Through Habitat’s homeownership program, she completed homeowner education, invested 100 sweat equity hours, and purchased her home with an affordable mortgage.

“Watching the process of helping each other is so inspiring,” Heather shared after volunteering alongside Habitat staff and other volunteers throughout her journey.

The dedication included a special blessing over Heather’s new home, a meaningful moment as she reflected on the support that helped her reach this milestone. Heather expressed gratitude for her parents, who encouraged her along the way and dedicated countless hours toward her sweat equity requirements, as well as for the opportunity Habitat provided to help make homeownership possible.

For Heather, this home means stability, security, and the opportunity to continue her education while creating a safe place for her children to grow and thrive. 💚
