Yesterday we celebrated our Dunbar 8th graders as they took their next big step: high school.

This promotion was more than the end of middle school. It marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with new hallways, new classes, new opportunities, and new memories waiting to be made.

The halls of Okmulgee High School will soon become a place where they continue to grow, learn, laugh, lead, and discover who they are becoming. The next four years will be filled with moments they will remember for a lifetime, and we know they will pass by faster than they can imagine.

To our 8th grade Bulldogs: take pride in how far you have come, and step into high school with confidence, courage, and an open heart. There is so much ahead of you, and this community will be cheering you on every step of the way.

Congratulations, Dunbar 8th Grade Class. High school is waiting, and so many wonderful things are ahead.

Congratulations to our Dunbar Intermediate students in 5th through 8th grade!

Our awards celebration is a special time to recognize the hard work, growth, and achievements of our students. From academic awards and classroom accomplishments to leadership, character, improvement, and individual recognitions, every award represents effort, dedication, and Bulldog pride.

Okmulgee Public Schools, Dunbar Intermediate, and the Bulldog community are so proud of each student being recognized. These accomplishments matter because they show the progress our students are making, the goals they are reaching, and the bright futures they are building one step at a time.

Dunbar Intermediate is excited to honor Tissa Carter as our 2026 Teacher of the Year and Donna Hammon as our 2026 Support Staff of the Year.

Anyone who walks the halls of Dunbar knows it takes a lot of heart to do this work well. Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Hammon bring that heart with them every day. They are dependable, caring, and committed to making Dunbar a better place for students and staff.

Being chosen by their peers makes this recognition even more special. It means the people beside them see the difference they make, not just in the big moments, but in the everyday ones too.

We are thankful to have Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Hammon as part of our Dunbar team and proud to celebrate them this year.

Tonight is a special night for our students, and we would love for you to be part of it! Please join us at Brock Gymnasium as our Dunbar Bands share the music they have been working so hard to prepare.

We will also enjoy a performance by The Showpiece of Okmulgee, making it a wonderful evening of music, community, and Bulldog pride.

Our junior high track athletes are already showing us what the future of our program can look like, and Bulldog fans, it is bright.

This season, our young athletes learned more than how to run, jump, throw, and compete. They learned discipline, focus, commitment, teamwork, and how to keep pushing even when the race gets tough. Those are the kinds of skills that build strong athletes, strong students, and strong leaders.

Junior high track is where confidence begins, where habits are built, and where the foundation of a program starts to take shape. Every practice, every meet, and every personal best is helping our Bulldogs grow into the future of Okmulgee athletics.
