The City of Olathe was awarded a Rail Crossing Elimination (RCE) grant from the Federal Rail Administration (FRA) to study a stretch of the BNSF Railway’s west tracks in Olathe. The BNSF West Track Railroad Crossing Study project includes data collection, stakeholder and public engagement, feasibility analysis, and design of conceptual improvements.

City of Olathe staff will host public engagement events to share information about the study, gather feedback, and answer questions regarding the project and potential alternatives.

• Johnson County Old Settlers – Johnson County Square, Thursday, Sept. 10, from 12:00 - 4:00 PM, and Friday, Sept. 11, from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
• Public Meeting Open House, - Flexbox Theater in the Olathe Downtown Library, Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
• Olathe Arts Fair – Johnson County Square, Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM.

Olathe Pet Owners! Now is your chance to get your fur-friend a low cost vaccination. The Olathe Animal Shelter has partnered with K-State University to offer Olathe Residents low cost vaccinations. In addition, free microchips will be provided to pets that do not already have one.
