Happy National E-Bike Day!

Today we’re highlighting important safety reminders and City of Olathe, KS Government ordinances for e-bike riders — and parents of young riders — to help keep our streets, sidewalks, and trails safe for everyone.

-Helmets are required for riders under 18
-Riders must yield to pedestrians
-15 MPH maximum on sidewalks and sidewalk areas
-E-bikes are permitted on roads with speed limits up to 40 MPH
-E-bikes must have motors under 750 watts
-Bikes with motors 750 watts or greater are classified as motor-driven cycles and are subject to additional licensing and legal requirements
-Reckless riding is prohibited
-Parents are responsible for ensuring children follow all regulations
