What started as a temporary tax to build a courthouse has turned into a blank check for Johnson County's unsustainable spending. The county manager has made it clear the current spending can't continue, yet they want taxpayers to cover the gap. This November 4, voters have a chance to stop the spin and protect working families from another costly burden.

Mike Kelly’s First Act as Chairman: Silencing the Public

Mike Kelly’s first act as Chairman of the Johnson County Commission was to ban broadcasting public comments during meetings, silencing the voices of his constituents and undermining transparency.

After swift backlash, the Kansas legislature held a hearing to overturn his decision. Faced with mounting pressure, Kelly reversed his policy just before the Governor signed a bill that permanently nullified his censorship.

This is a clear win for free speech, transparency, and the people of Johnson County—and a resounding defeat for Mike Kelly’s attempt to silence the public.
