📢 Outdoor Warning Siren Testing Update

Twice each year, Johnson County Emergency Management tests the backup activation system for our outdoor warning sirens to ensure it is ready when needed. Today was one of those scheduled tests.

During the initial 11:00 a.m. test, we identified an issue with the backup system that prevented some sirens from activating as expected. If you heard sirens around 11:15 a.m., those were individual cities conducting their own scheduled tests of the system.

We are currently working with the vendor to troubleshoot and correct this problem.

Today is the rescheduled monthly test of the outdoor warning sirens at 11am! Let us know where you hear them.

What is Emergency Management?

When people think of Emergency Management, they often think of disasters.

But Emergency Management is so much more.

We work behind the scenes every day to help our community prepare for emergencies, coordinate response efforts, support recovery, and reduce future risks. We bring together public safety agencies, local governments, healthcare, schools, utilities, businesses, nonprofits, and many other partners to help keep Johnson County safe and resilient.

Emergency Management isn't just about responding to emergencies, it's about planning ahead, building partnerships, and helping our community recover stronger when disasters happen. Because disasters are inevitable, catastrophes don't have to be.
