THE BIG DAY HAS ARRIVED

Tonight, Old Bridge PBA Local 127 is excited to host the 25th annual "Cops for Kids" holiday party. We anxiously look forward to this particular party each year because of the impact that it has on the children in our community.

Once again we were overwhelmed with the tremendous donations of toys/games/bicycles that we have received from various supporters. We wanted to take this time to recognize a couple of recent donations from some of our biggest supporters.

The Dupont Parlin Site employees took up a collection of toys and games for the party.

Glenda Marshall from the Carl Sandburg Middle School PTA organized a toy drive for the party.

Lamesha Wallace from Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy, stopped by HQ to make a toy donation as well.

We would also like to recognize Eric of Wegman's in Manalapan for making a huge donation of items which will help us prepare and serve the dinners to the families in attendance.

These donations along with the many donations in the past month allow us to put forth a successful party for these children each year!

Thank you all!!

Old Bridge Officer receives prestigious NJ State PBA Valor Award for Meritorious Service

Old Bridge PBA Local 127 is proud to announce that one of our officers, Dan Haviland, a 4-year veteran of the department received a valor award from the NJ State PBA for the diligence and heroism he displayed from an incident on Christmas day 2019. Nominated by Local State Delegate Brian Brady, Haviland was fortunate to be recognized last night.

On that faithful day, at approximately 5am, an armed robbery was in progress at the 7-11 store on route 9 north near the London Terrace Apartment complex. The suspect, who was wearing a black hoodie and a mask, and had a firearm, fled the scene. Several of our officers arrived on the scene immediately to investigate and canvass the area for the suspect. Officer Haviland arrives on the scene and begins checking the apartment complex. A short time later, he drives passed a subject fitting the description of the suspect involved.

Haviland followed the vehicle while it made numerous turns throughout the apartment complex. The vehicle finally stopped on its own. Haviland activated his overhead lights to initiate a motor vehicle stop. The suspect then exited the vehicle without direction and began to run. Haviland began to pursue the suspect on foot. Haviland was able to catch up to the suspect when the suspect fell to the ground. After a brief struggle, Haviland was able to control the suspects hands to prohibit further movement. Officers Hall and Ditmars arrived on the scene to assist Haviland. Hall was able to handcuff the suspect while Haviland was able to remove a loaded G***k handgun from the suspects waist. Thankfully no one was injured from this situation.

The NJ State PBA Valor Awards recognize New Jersey police officers and private citizens who demonstrate exceptional heroism and commitment to their profession, their law enforcement agency and the public.

We are proud to have Officer Haviland here in Old Bridge!!

Old Bridge PBA Local 127 and 127a members were on hand this morning to meet some families from our community for the annual Thanksgiving Basket donation at the Old Bridge Food Bank. As in years past, our PBA was happy to donate Thanksgiving baskets filled with various food items to those families throughout our community in need this time of year.

The Old Bridge Department of Parks & Recreation and Social Services in partnership with the Department of Public Works organizes this event for the Old Bridge Food Bank. There were over 150 families to feed this year and we are glad that our sponsorship was able to feed all of those families. There is nothing better then us being there for our Old Bridge families. We are especially grateful for their continued support!!

We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving this year!!

The Old Bridge PBA Local 127 "Cops for Kids" holiday party is Friday December 3rd. One of this events biggest supporters, "Nikki's Dawgs", collected bags of toys/games with a toy drive the past few months. SOA Secretary Jim Ford and Officer Vinny Tavares stopped by to receive the donation from Nicole and Craig Cordero.

These gifts will certainly put a smile on many children's faces and make their holiday that much better!!

Thank you so much Nikki's Dawgs for your continued support of our mission!!

We thank everyone for the toy donations, this year we collected over 8 bags of toys, games, and puzzles!
Together we make Old Bridge Proud, and bring smiles to the faces of the children! We thank the Old Bridge PBA Local 127 for holding this event every year!

"Cops for Kids" - Donation alert

Old Bridge PBA Local 127's Annual "Cops for Kids" Holiday Party is quickly approaching. This years party is scheduled for Friday December 3rd. Once again we are overwhelmed with the tremendous donations of toys/games/bicycles that we have received from various supporters. We wanted to take this time to recognize a couple of recent donations.

Recently, Della and Trina of DeFino Contracting stopped by police headquarters to donate a massive amount of toys and game. They also donated several bicycles which we will raffle off to some lucky winners. They are one of our biggest toy donors each year.

We also want to give a shout out to Wess and Laura who stopped by headquarters with their dog Turbo to donate some bicycles for the party.

Thanks to these donations and many other donors we are able to give many children an amazing holiday. We really look forward to this event each year. The children in our community are a top priority for us especially during the holidays!! Stay tuned for pictures from the event!!

Old Bridge Circus is running strong -

Last night at the Old Bridge Council meeting (available on YouTube) it was learned that the township just hired a new Director of Human Resources. According to Mr. Shah, Business Administrator, the town found out a week and a half ago that current HRD Avril Limage was leaving for a new job (allegedly a bigger position in the county). Avril was only with the town for just about 5 years (stepping stone...sound familiar).

Imagine, the town can put a job announcement out, conduct interviews, and hire someone new for HRD, HOWEVER they can't hire a police chief since April and they have candidates from within the department.

Is the hiring of the new HRD a political hire (just before the election)? Was the person hand selected?

Doesnt the police department deserve a police chief? It's only been 7 months.

Inquiring minds want to know. Thoughts

Good luck Avril in your new position. We wish you the best!!
