*Ensuring Educational Integrity*
Hello everyone, my name is Mireille Cameau-Wicks, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for an open seat on the Old Bridge Board of Education. I have been a proud resident of Old Bridge for nearly 45 years and am a product of the Old Bridge school system, having attended Glenn, Miller, Carpenter, Salk, and graduated from Madison Central High School in 1992. My
five cousins also graduated from Old Bridge schools, and we all have thrived and achieved success, which is why I chose to raise my children here. I have three children: my oldest graduated in 2019, my middle child in 2024, and my youngest is currently at Salk. Over the past 17 years, I have closely collaborated with teachers, school staff, administration, paras, and child study teams. My experience spans honors classes, trades, sports, band, clubs, IEPs, RTIs, and special services, which all contributed to raising independent and thriving adults. I have been a PTA and SEPTA member, class, and school volunteer. Additionally, I have coached the town's recreation basketball leagues (OBBA) for senior boys and middle school girls. In my professional life, I worked as an independent healthcare consultant, helping to create New Jerseyโs first Development Disabilities center for teaching independent skills to young adults. My passion lies in helping every child succeed, regardless of the path they choose. I am fully invested not only in my childrenโs education and future, but also in the education and futures of all children in our community. Over the last few years, I have closely followed BOE meetings. Observing the discourse and watching some members lose sight of the bigger picture when facing the concerns of our children's education, future, and budget, I felt compelled to take action. For the past two years, I have attended meetings in person and have frequently spoken at the podium. I have seen the complexities of being a BOE member and understand the voting process on agenda items and the school budget. In my professional career, I have managed budgets ranging from $3 to $28 million, achieving significant savings for companies. While the school budget is different, I hope my dedication to seeing children succeed will help maintain our educational opportunities, keep our schools intact, and save for future budgets. I am asking for your support to be a vision, voice, and ear for all our townโs residents on the Old Bridge Board of Education.
