Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced more than $74 million in Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TASA) funding for projects across the Commonwealth, and we are proud to share that the Old Forge School District has been awarded $1,000,000 for our Pedestrian Safety and Accessibility Improvement Project.
This funding will allow the District to improve pedestrian safety around our Kโ12 campus through the installation of ADA-compliant sidewalks, curb ramps, pedestrian lighting, stormwater management improvements, crosswalks, and traffic calming measures along West Grace Street, Railroad Street, Marion Street, and Josephine Street.
As a one-campus district serving as the hub of a 3.4-square-mile community, safe and accessible walking routes for our students, families, and residents are critically important. These improvements will create safer pathways to school, parks, athletic facilities, and community events for years to come.
We would like to sincerely thank:
Governor Josh Shapiro
PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll
Senator Marty Flynn
Representative Jim Haddock
for their continued support of public education, infrastructure, and student safety in Old Forge.
This investment will make a lasting impact on our students and community, and we are incredibly grateful for the partnership and support that helped make this project possible.
