"Wynn Hospital move in day TODAY !
And they're off !!! The Old Forge Volunteer Ambulance Corps Board of Directors were asked by MVHS to provide an ambulance and crew for the big day, moving patients from St. Luke's and St. Elizabeth's campuses to the brand new Wynn Hospital in Utica.
With the support of the OFVAC membership and our Chief, Danielle Hoepfl, the Board agreed it was an appropriate use of equipment and labor to help out an integral part of our communities emergency medical services.
Luckily two of our active members, husband and wife team Tory (driver) and Jenn (EMT) Dunn stepped up to the task. Jenn became an EMT in 2020 and subsequently joined the OFVAC. Tory joined our ranks in 2021 and both have become valued team members.
As an aside, the Dunn adult children are also active OFVAC members. Both Dawson (EMT) and Kerissa are in College full time but when available, have also contributed their time and talents.
When asked why they volunteered for this particular event, Jenn answered with... "We've always had a passion to help others in need. We both knew the second we heard of the event, that we wanted to participate.
We've experienced a lot over the past year and felt this was a way we could give back to the hospital and the EMS community that had done so much for us."
They left this morning at 0430 in anticipation to be on site by 0600 for instructions and to start loading patients by 0700.
We anticipate receiving some more pictures as the day goes by and we will share them as they come.
The OFVAC BOD wishes to thank Jenn and Tory for volunteering. Both today and in general for all they've contributed. "
