The Borough of Old Forge is seeking candidates for DPW summer help. Applications can be picked up at the borough office or on the borough's website at

On the south bank of the Lackawanna River was located the iron forge built in 1789 by Dr. William Smith and James Sutton. This was the region’s oldest forge, after which the town was named.

Farmers Market Vouchers available at the Taylor Comminity Center on June 20 from 9-12.

Distribution of vouchers will be strictly IN-PERSON. In order to receive vouchers, a resident must be 60 years old in the year 2024, meet income eligibility guidelines and live in Lackawanna County.

If an eligible senior cannot attend a distribution event, a PROXY can act in their place with a completed proxy form. If you need a form mailed to you, please call the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging at 570-963-6740 ext. 1444, or print a proxy form and learn more about the program at www.LackawannaAging.org.

Old Forge borough's annual Memorial Day Parade and Solemn Ceremony, sponsored by the American Legion Post 513 and VFW Post 4954 will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27th.

The starting point is the corner of Main and Miles streets (across from Rite-Aid) . Participants should arrive by 9:30 a.m. The parade will travel down Main Street to Moosic Road, where a ceremony will follow at the Old Forge Cemetery at approximately 11:00am.

The American Legion will replace the flags at the Old Forge Cemetery on Friday, May 24 at 6 p.m. with the help of the Boy Scouts and the Sons of Italy. Volunteers are welcome to join. Rain date is Saturday, May 25 at 9 a.m.

The Old Forge Police Department Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for Full Time Officers for the Borough of Old Forge Police Department. The application process is now until Friday, May 03,2024@ 16:00 hrs. with the first part of the test being held on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Applications can be picked up daily from the hours of 09:00-04:00p.m.
