Stolen Vehicle Search End in Old Fort
On Friday, Sept. 19, McDowell County Sheriff’s Office deputies, in collaboration with the Old Fort Police Department, apprehended two suspects in connection with a stolen vehicle.
Deputies arrested Matthew Paul Smith, 30, of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Amber Noelle Harr, 31, of Blountville, Tennessee, after locating the vehicle and illegal drugs in the parking lot of a local business in Old Fort. The swift, multi-agency effort extended across state lines and resulted in both individuals being taken into custody.
Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan praised his deputies and the teamwork displayed during the operation:
“This arrest highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies. We are grateful for our strong partnership with the Old Fort Police Department and for the dedication of our men and women, who work tirelessly to keep our community safe.”
Charges
Smith was charged with the following offenses:
• Felony Trafficking in M**hamphetamine (two counts)
• Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
He received a $200,000 secured bond.
Harr was charged with:
• Felony Trafficking in M**hamphetamine (two counts)
• Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance
She received a $50,000 secured bond.
Additional charges are pending.
