Perrot Memorial Library

Perrot Memorial Library Perrot Memorial Library serves the Riverside and Old Greenwich neighborhoods of Greenwich, CT The Children's wing was designed by architect Mark B.

The Perrot Memorial Library is located in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, a Long Island Sound seaside community which comprises the eastern portion of the Town of Greenwich. The library, named for John Perrot, Old Greenwich's first private schoolmaster, was founded in 1904 by his descendants. The library moved from place to place until 1930, when architect D. Everett Waid donated a piece of land on So

und Beach Avenue, as well as plans for a Jeffersonian-style building. Thompson and construction was completed in 1998. The new addition was funded by a a major gift from the Radcliffe Family and donations from many members of our community. Perrot Library is a private, 501(c)(3) institution, owned by the Perrot Library Association; we are affiliated (and share a catalog) with the larger Greenwich Public Library system.

🇺🇸🎶With just under a month until the 250th Anniversary of America, we recently celebrated this milestone with an afternoon of patriotic music, community spirit, and American history by filling the lawn at the Greenwich Historical Society during Music of America.

🎺This concert was presented by Perrot Memorial Library and Greenwich Historical Society and performed by the New York-based band Regal Brass.

☀️Guests gathered with lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and snacks to enjoy a memorable outdoor concert celebrating 250 years of American history through music. The performance featured beloved patriotic classics including The Star-Spangled Banner, My Country ’Tis of Thee, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, God Bless the USA, Shenandoah, and many more.

🙌Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special afternoon of music, history, and community celebration!

Come experience Perrot's latest StoryWalk®, a delightful way to read a story and take a walk at the same time! This StoryWalk® features A Flag for Juneteenth, by Kim Taylor. The StoryWalk® starts outside the Youth Services Wing doors, and continues up the outdoor steps and into the Youth Services Garden.

A Flag for Juneteenth depicts a close-knit community of enslaved African Americans on a plantation in Texas, the day before the announcement is to be made that all enslaved people are free. Young Huldah, who is preparing to celebrate her tenth birthday, can’t possibly anticipate how much her life will change that Juneteenth morning. The story follows Huldah and her community as they process the news of their freedom and celebrate together by creating a community freedom flag. Debut author and artist Kim Taylor sets this story apart by applying her skills as an expert quilter. Each of the illustrations has been lovingly hand sewn and quilted, giving the book a homespun, tactile quality that is altogether unique.

Kim Taylor will be visiting the Greenwich Historical Society for a special Juneteenth event for kids, cosponsored by Perrot, on Saturday, June 13th.
