Perrot Memorial Library

Perrot Memorial Library Perrot Memorial Library serves the Riverside and Old Greenwich neighborhoods of Greenwich, CT The Children's wing was designed by architect Mark B.

The Perrot Memorial Library is located in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, a Long Island Sound seaside community which comprises the eastern portion of the Town of Greenwich. The library, named for John Perrot, Old Greenwich's first private schoolmaster, was founded in 1904 by his descendants. The library moved from place to place until 1930, when architect D. Everett Waid donated a piece of land on So

und Beach Avenue, as well as plans for a Jeffersonian-style building. Thompson and construction was completed in 1998. The new addition was funded by a a major gift from the Radcliffe Family and donations from many members of our community. Perrot Library is a private, 501(c)(3) institution, owned by the Perrot Library Association; we are affiliated (and share a catalog) with the larger Greenwich Public Library system.

Greenwich Historical Society and Perrot Memorial Library present a celebration in honor of Juneteenth on Saturday, June 13th!

Join us in the Greenwich Historical Society's Education Center at 12:00 noon on 6/13 for a visit with Kim Taylor, author of A Flag for Juneteenth and an expert quilter. She will read her book, and display and discuss her Juneteenth story quilt. A flag-designing craft will follow.

Throughout the day, explore the A Flag for Juneteenth Storywalk through our historic garden, enjoy tasty treats, and take a family-friendly tour of the Bush-Holley House (before or after the storytime) at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, or 3:00 PM. All events on the 13th are FREE and open to all! Please register for the event on the Greenwich Historial Society's website: https://greenwichhistory.org/event/juneteenth-storytime-with-perrot-memorial-library/

A Flag for Juneteenth is a powerful title that shares a unique story of the celebration of the first Juneteenth, from the perspective of a young girl. Kim Taylor sets her work apart from other Juneteenth books by applying her skills as an expert quilter. Each of the illustrations has been lovingly hand-sewn and quilted, giving the book a homespun, tactile quality that will appeal to readers young and old. A Flag for Juneteenth was selected by the Brooklyn Public Library as one of the 250 most influential books in US History.
