Today is a special Day. I have been eagerly awaiting the Hummingbirds and anxious as they usually arrive earlier and others have seen them. This afternoon as I was taking a rest time I though I saw a large bee in the room. On closer inspection I realized it was a tiny Hummingbird. I tried to walk so it would fly out by itself, it did not. I went to the window and behind the sheer curtains. I carefully was able to gather it up and bring it outside. I am so thrilled I had a Humming bird in my hands. Joy and Love

The new picture was taken in 1982 before the flood. It shows the The foundation of the original Mill that was washed down stream by the flood. The building you see has come down and the foundation there is now a deck. The beautiful granite stones that were washed down stream were collected and create the walls and garden walls at the Mill today.

Late May with the inspiration from my sister Sandra Samolis who has a Wild Flower Garden in her back yard in Uncasville and shared her Milkweed seeds and Chris Kitchings who inspired the idea of a Butterfly Garden and gave me a beautiful white butterfly bush I finally woke up that here at the Mill is the perfect place to create more gardens to help the environment. First for a Wild Flower Garden like Sandy has in her back yard with an abundance of Milk W**d for the Monarch Butterflies and then an additional thought to have plants off the deck so I can enjoy the bee’s butterflies, insect’s and bird’s daily.
Excited discussions with family and friends to gather support and help for the gardens the WiseWoman Bee and Butterfly Pollinating Garden at the deck and the Wild Flower Pollinator Garden down at the back lawn now make it a reality. For short WiseWoman Garden (WWG and WFG) and Wild Flower Garden.
Doing some research on YouTube and attending a lecture with my sister and daughter on what to plant and not plant and having years of gardening experience it was time to get started.
This Saturday my friends Brian Urbowicz, from Concrete Connections and Mike Mackey, from Mike’s Tree Removal Services came in with their heavy machinery to remove some trees and till the soil. They are in the process of preparing the area for planting. Monday already and Mike’s crew came in and we should be ready to plant this week. They all were so efficient and the 50 by 100-foot area will soon be planted.
