🚒🇺🇲 PARADE UPDATE 🇺🇲🚒

Parade is CANCELED, ceremony to be held indoors at the middle school auditorium at 11:30am, and don't forget hot dogs at the firehouse afterwards! 🌭

There will not be a rain date. Due to the unpredictable radar today, and in an effort to respect people's Memorial Day plans, the parade does not typically get postponed. Traditionally, the school auditorium is the backup plan, that is what we will do this year, so we hope to see you all there! 🫡

🔥 High Forest Fire Danger Alert 🔥

Dry conditions have increased the risk of wildfires in our area. Please use extra caution with any outdoor flames.

Fire Safety Reminders:
🔥Blowtorches are not an acceptable way to rid your yard of weeds during Forest Fire Season.

🔥Keep cooking fires small, attended, and fully extinguished. A permit is required for open fires.

🔥Use grills away from buildings and dry vegetation

🔥Never discard hot coals or ashes on the ground or in the woods—use a metal container

One spark can cause a wildfire.
📞 If you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.

Thank you for helping keep our community and first responders safe. 🚒🌲

🚨🚨 Attention CT River and Long Island Sound Boaters 🚧🚧

As many of you aware already aware, the Old Lyme/Old Saybrook Drawbridge is getting a new bridge installed South of it's current location and the river looks a little different than it has in years past. Previously many boaters and jet skiers would transit under all of the spans of the bridge, BE ADVISED that is not currently possible or recommended given all of the construction traffic and structures that are now in the water. The new structures show above the water line on each side of the bridge, and have lights on top of them, the safest route of travel is under the center of the bridge.

This past weekend we went out on the water with representatives from O&G Industries Inc. Safety personnel to help come up with a plan to help provide early warning for boaters as they approach the construction. As a reminder, the no wake zone has been extended south of the bridge to help keep everyone safe.

📣 Please share this important information with anyone who may be boating in the area this season!

As always we greatly appreciate O&G Industries Inc in their collaborative effort toward on site safety.

LYSB hosted Saturday’s Drug Take Back event—and thanks to our amazing community, we collected 150 pounds of unused medications. That’s an incredible result for our two small towns, and it speaks volumes about how much people here care about keeping one another safe. We’re especially grateful to Old Lyme Police and Old Lyme Fire for their partnership and support in making this event possible. Events like this help prevent misuse, keep medications out of the wrong hands, and provide a safe, responsible way to dispose of them. Together, we’re building a healthier, safer community.💙
