Our shelter at WFFPD Station 1 is open and available until the storms pass.

Be aware, if traveling through Winfield today. Pay attention and you may even see one of your favorite Old Monroe officers helping out!

Today, Friday, April 24th, Winfield High School will be doing their annual pre-prom DUI reenactment. You will see emergency vehicles at the nearby church and at the school in the morning as part of this. There is no need for alarm as this is part of demonstrating to students the possible impact of DUI.

Old Monroe Police Awarded Grant for Increased DWI Enforcement Along Highway 79 Corridor

Old Monroe, Missouri — March 2nd, 2026

The Old Monroe Police Department has been awarded grant funding for increased DWI enforcement during the months of March and April.

The grant, provided through the Missouri Department of Transportation, will allow officers to conduct additional patrols focused on identifying and removing impaired drivers from our roadways.

Enforcement efforts will include targeted patrols along the Highway 79 and Highway C corridor, heavily traveled routes that continue to see high traffic volumes and crash activity.

Impaired driving remains a serious threat to public safety. These additional enforcement efforts are designed to deter dangerous behavior and keep our community safe.”

Drivers are reminded to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, and never operate a vehicle while impaired.

Do you have a new driver in your home, or will you have one soon? Join us for the FREE First Impact presentation in April, sponsored by 79Safe and taught by Sergeant Giamanco and Allyn Workman, program specialist.

Research confirms that GDL laws have been instrumental in reducing teen crashes by 20 percent to 40 percent.

First Impact offers a FREE 90-minute evidence-based traffic safety program that educates parents and teen drivers about Missouri’s GDL law. The goal of First Impact is to reduce the number of motor vehicle fatalities, injuries and crashes among teen drivers by increasing parental awareness and enforcement of Missouri’s GDL law.

Objectives of the program are to increase:

- Awareness of teen driving risks
- Understanding of Missouri’s GDL law
- GDL monitoring and enforcement at home
- Importance of being a positive role model

The program is delivered by trained Law Enforcement Officers and Facilitators who coach parents by presenting key facts and proven strategies to help parents lower their teens’ crash risk by utilizing the Missouri GDL law.
