As of today, May 22, 2026, our officers have made 63 OUI arrests. By comparison, on May 22, 2025, our agency had made 24 OUI arrests year-to-date.

This increase reflects proactive enforcement efforts and our continued commitment to roadway safety.

Our officers are actively identifying impaired drivers through directed patrols, traffic enforcement initiatives, and a high-visibility presence throughout the community. We are not waiting for crashes to occur before taking action. Impaired driving slows reaction time, impairs judgment, and puts motorists, passengers, and pedestrians at serious risk.

On May 15th, our officers made 4 OUI arrests in approximately one hour. Last evening, officers arrested an individual for OUI who made bail and was released, only to be arrested again for OUI by our officers just hours later.

Each OUI arrest represents a potential tragedy prevented.

As we head into the holiday weekend, our officers will continue proactive OUI enforcement throughout the community. We are not backing down, and we will continue working to remove impaired drivers from our roadways.

Drive sober. Plan ahead. Make responsible choices.

🚔 BUCKLE UP, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 🚔

The Old Orchard Beach Police Department will be increasing patrol efforts as part of NHTSA’s “Click It or Ticket” High Visibility Enforcement Campaign in partnership with the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety.

So far in 2026, Maine has seen 23 motor vehicle occupant fatalities. Of those, 13 individuals (57%) were not wearing a seatbelt.

Seatbelts save lives. “Click It or Ticket” is more than just a slogan — it’s a reminder that wearing your seatbelt can make all the difference.

A ticket is inconvenient. A crash is life changing. Buckle your seat belt every time. Click It or Ticket. Buckle up! No Excuses!
