Decatur County Emergency Management Agency is excited to announce the launch of Decatur County Notify Now, the county's new official emergency notification system.

Notify Now will replace CodeRED as Decatur County's official emergency notification system!

Notify Now is designed to help residents, businesses, and visitors receive important information when it matters most, including:
• Severe weather and other emergencies
• Public safety situations
• Evacuations and shelter-in-place recommendations
• Road closures and significant disruptions
• Other important emergency and community information

When you register for Decatur County Notify Now, you will have the opportunity to create a Smart911 profile. You can provide as much or as little information as you choose — you are not required to complete every section of the profile.
However, we encourage you to provide as much information as you are comfortable sharing.

The information in your Smart911 profile may help public safety personnel better understand your needs and provide assistance during an emergency.

For example, information about your household, location, medical needs, pets, or other circumstances could be valuable to responders when they are working to help you.
The more information you choose to provide, the more information may be available to public safety personnel when you need help.

The Smart911 platform also includes a mobile app that can provide location-based alerts when you are in another community that uses the Smart911 platform.

Alison is truly one of a kind! She brings such a fun, unique personality to our dispatch center, along with a kind and compassionate heart. She genuinely cares about the people she works with and the community she serves, and that compassion comes through in the way she does her job each and every day.

She is sweet, caring, hardworking, and definitely has a style and personality all her own—which is just one of the many things we love about her! 😊

Delaney began her career with us at the Jail/Detention Center, where she spent two years before making the move to Dispatch, where she has spent the past year.

If you know Delaney, you know she is strong-minded, passionate, and encouraging. She has a heart for helping others and a special way of bringing out the best in those around her.

And that same passion extends far beyond her career. 🐾❤️ Delaney has a special gift for animals—whether they are domestic, exotic, or anything in between. She has an incredible knack for caring for, rehabilitating, and nurturing animals back to health and strength. She truly has a heart for them and the patience and determination to help them become their best.
Delaney brings that same compassion, strength, and determination to everything she does, and we are so fortunate to have her as part of our team.

Celebrating Wendy’s 20 Years of Service! 🎉🖤🖤💛💛💛🖤🖤🎉

Today we celebrate a VERY special milestone—Wendy’s 20 years of service!

Wendy began her career at the jail/detention center, where she spent 7 years, before making her way to Dispatch 13 years ago. For the past two decades, she has been an incredible asset to our team and to the community she serves.

It truly doesn’t seem like 20 years! Wendy brings so much knowledge and experience to everything she does. 🤗

Wendy is truly a bright light—funny, purposeful, dedicated, passionate, and full of knowledge and experience. What makes her 20 years even more special is that her dedication isn’t just about the years she has put in. When she stepped into the role of Shift Lead, one of her biggest priorities was passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of dispatchers.

She has made it her mission to teach new and upcoming dispatchers what it truly means to be a dispatcher—not just how to do the job, but the importance of compassion, dedication, teamwork, professionalism, and being there for people when they need us most.

Dispatching is not an easy profession. It takes a special person to dedicate 20 years to this career, and Wendy is absolutely one of those people. Her impact goes far beyond the calls she has answered and the countless lives she has touched. She is helping shape the dispatchers who will carry this profession forward.

Competence can hide a lot.

Every communications center has someone people automatically turn to.

They take the difficult channel. Help the trainee. Catch the missed detail. Cover the open shift. Keep the room steady when everything starts moving at once.

Because they consistently handle it, everyone assumes they are fine.

That is how overload becomes invisible.

Dependable employees do not always struggle loudly. They adjust. They absorb another responsibility. They stop asking for help because experience has taught them that being capable usually leads to being given more.

The work keeps getting done, so no one sees the strain building underneath it. By the time something changes, they may have been exhausted, frustrated, or questioning their future at the center for months.

Sometimes the most useful check-in is not, “Can you cover this?”
It is: “What have you taken on that was supposed to be temporary?”

The answer may reveal responsibilities that quietly became permanent simply because that person kept managing them.

For the people who are always counted on, what kind of support do you wish someone would offer before you have to ask?
