It is with a heavy hearts that Polk County has to process the loss of District 2 Commissioner Greg Brooks.

As a lifelong Polk Countian, Greg's love for his family, his friends, and this entire county makes news like this hit especially close to home. Knowing Greg as many of you did on a personal level and working together to serve District 2 and the County. It really brings me to tears.

Commissioner Brooks was a dedicated public servant who cared genuinely for the people of District 2 and the entire County of Polk. He worked tirelessly for our shared community. His time, effort, and care made a lasting mark on Polk County.

On behalf of the District 2 Constable’s Office, our thoughts and prayers are with Commissioner Brooks’ family, loved ones, and everyone grieving his loss. We ask our community to wrap his family in comfort and support during the difficult days ahead. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service will not be forgotten.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from Constable Jamie Lewis 🇺🇸

As we celebrate this Fourth of July, I want to wish everyone in Polk County and across our great nation a safe, happy, and blessed Independence Day.

Today, we commemorate 250 years of American freedom—a legacy born from the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering belief that liberty is worth defending. The ideals established in 1776 continue to inspire generations of Americans to serve their communities, protect one another, and preserve the freedoms we hold dear.

As your Constable, I am especially proud to serve in one of the oldest law enforcement offices in America. The Office of Constable traces its roots to England and was brought to the American colonies by the earliest settlers, long before our nation declared its independence. Through the centuries, constables have faithfully served their communities, standing as guardians of the peace and upholding the rule of law.

Here in Tennessee, the Office of Constable is recognized in the Constitution of the State of Tennessee, reflecting its enduring place in our system of government. It is an office woven into the very fabric of our state and our nation's history—one built upon service, integrity, accountability, and dedication to the people.

As we celebrate America's 250th year, let us remember those who secured our independence, honor the men and women who continue to defend our freedoms, and recommit ourselves to the principles that make this nation strong: faith, freedom, justice, and unity.

From my family to yours, thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your Constable.

May God bless you, may God bless the State of Tennessee, and may God continue to bless the United States of America.

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

— Constable Jamie Lewis

Tonight, Constable Dan Cain for Constable and myself participated in another THSO Safety Checkpoint alongside the Benton City Police Department, the Polk County Sheriff's Department (in Benton) and many other law enforcement agencies from around East Tennessee. After the Benton Checkpoint concluded we travelled on north to do two more checkpoints in Etowah City and Englewood City in McMinn County.
