As we near the conclusion of another great season, we want to take a moment to say thank you to the amazing seasonal staff who supported us this summer!

Our seasonals, as part of the Student Conservation Association (SCA), play an incredibly important role in helping us accomplish our mission. Their work takes many forms, including maintenance, interpretation, campground operations, natural resource management, camp host assistance, and so much more.

We truly could not do it without them! Thank you to all of our seasonal staff for your hard work, dedication, and support throughout the summer. We appreciate everything you did!

Initial construction of the dam began in January 1951 with Macco Corporation handling the first stage! The construction was broken down into multiple parts rather than giving the whole project to one company. Macco won the crucial first stage including excavation, coffer dams, and the initial foundation work while other companies won separate bids for later parts of the project. Macco Corporation (originally known as the Macco Construction Company) was a massive and highly influential heavy construction and engineering firm in the 20th century. Here you can see them at work two months into their part of the Albeni Falls Dam project.
