“The fastest gains you make are the ones you already made.” 💪🔥

All that hard work you put in before? It wasn’t wasted.

Muscle memory is real. The miles, the reps, the sweat, the suck—it all counts. You’re not starting over. You’re picking up where you left off.

So don’t rush the process.

Enjoy the adventure.

I’ve got a little checklist I’m trying to knock out before the year is over and before I officially turn 40. 😂

More miles.
More rucks.
More races.
More badges.
More uncomfortable situations that somehow seemed like a great idea when I signed up. 🇺🇸

And apparently… I’m looking for like-minded weirdos to join me.

If your definition of fun includes waking up ridiculously early, carrying a heavy ruck, running entirely too far, chasing goals nobody else understands, and voluntarily signing up for the next adventure…

You should probably come join the Army National Guard

Normal people need not apply. 😂

Who’s in?

Apparently, I’ve finally figured out why I don’t have a lot of people to hang out with…

It turns out my definition of “free time and fun” is apparently nowhere near the definition used by normal human beings. 😂

Most people:
“Let’s grab dinner, watch a movie, relax.”

Me:
“Who wants to wake up at 0530, throw on a ruck, suffer voluntarily for several miles, collect another ribbon or badge, and then pretend this was a great idea?”

And somehow…

I’m not the weird one.

Because there’s a whole community of like-minded people who understand.

Soldiers. Sailors. Airmen. Marines. Guardians. Veterans.
Doesn’t matter what branch.

If your idea of a good time involves discipline, discomfort, questionable life choices, and adding another piece of hardware to the uniform…

I found my people.

Another ribbon? 🎖️
Another badge? 🏅
Another adventure?

LET’S. FREAKING. GO.

Apparently, I don’t need more friends.

I just need better-adapted weirdos. 😂

Yesterday, the Army National Guard’s SPC Destiny Rodriguez, Paralegal Assistant, and I had the privilege of once again stepping up to support our Olive Branch High School Conquistadors during their annual Mock Interviews. 🎤💼

65 College & Career Readiness students got the opportunity to practice their interview skills in a realistic setting — asking questions, answering tough ones, building confidence, and getting a little closer to being ready for whatever comes next.

And honestly… this is the kind of stuff that matters.

You never know which student sitting across from you today is going to become tomorrow’s business owner, doctor, Soldier, teacher, entrepreneur, or community leader.

We’re incredibly grateful to be able to give our time, experience, and a little encouragement to our Conquistadors. Because sometimes, all someone needs is an opportunity — and somebody willing to believe in them.

A huge shoutout to Mrs. Loren Burse, who continues to guide these students toward success and helps connect them with hands-on employment opportunities, colleges, internships, scholarships, and real-world experiences — alongside an incredible faculty and staff.

That’s what community is about.

Helping people who WANT to be successful become the people they’re capable of becoming.

And remember:

“Be curious, not judgmental.”

Ask questions. Listen. Learn somebody’s story before deciding who they are.

Because in the end, everyone else is just an extra character in your story.

So write a good one.
Believe. 🐝

Every Second Counts

In a field where every second counts, being qualified and waiting for the right opportunity beats rushing into the wrong one. 42 college credits + EMT certification + training and experience means you’re already ahead. Add part-time service with full-time benefits: up to $4,500 FTA, $10,000 SEAP, and starting Oct. 1, 2026, up to $508/month GI Bill + $350/month for a 50+ ASVAB score. That’s approximately $92,320 in education benefits over four years, before additional benefits for graduate school, licenses and certifications. So I’m not going to sugarcoat it—you can do life your way, or you can do it our way. Either way, good luck. Just make sure you have a plan.
