Our Zips Car Wash Fundraiser is officially underway! Help support the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department while getting your vehicle cleaned!

The fundraiser runs through April 30, 2027. Purchased car washes are valid for six months from the date of purchase and can be used by the purchaser or gifted to friends and family.

There are two car wash options available, and Marlow Volunteer Fire Department receives 50% of every purchase!

This Fourth of July, we celebrate more than our nation's independence—we celebrate 250 years of the American spirit.

Two and a half centuries ago, brave men and women dared to dream of a nation founded on liberty, opportunity, and self-governance. Through challenges, triumphs, and generations of sacrifice, that dream has endured because ordinary Americans have continued to answer the call to serve something greater than themselves.

Today, as we gather with family and friends to enjoy parades, cookouts, fireworks, and community celebrations, let us take a moment to reflect on the countless individuals who have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy. We honor the patriots who forged our nation, the members of our armed forces who defend it, and the first responders, healthcare workers, and volunteers who continue to serve their communities every day.

As firefighters and emergency responders, we are reminded that service to others remains one of the greatest expressions of patriotism. Every call answered, every neighbor helped, and every life touched strengthens the communities that make this country so special.

As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, may we remember where we came from, appreciate the freedoms we enjoy today, and remain committed to building an even stronger future for the generations that follow.

There is another local small business that is always an avid supporter of the volunteer fire departments throughout Anderson County. Pizza Express is not only a great place to grab a delicious meal, but they consistently find ways to support those who serve our communities.

What an incredible way to wrap up Fire Camp!

Our final day was Water Day, and to make it even more exciting, LifeStar surprised us with a special visit! The crew was amazing, and the kids loved getting to see them up close.

We are so thankful for everyone who took the time to come out, teach, volunteer, and help make this week such a memorable experience. Seeing the smiles, excitement, and eagerness to learn from all of the kids made it all worthwhile.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Fire Camp a success—we couldn’t have done it without you! We hope everyone had as much fun as we did, and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

Water Safety Starts With You!

As families spend more time enjoying pools, rivers, lakes, and beaches this summer, the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind everyone to take a few simple precautions to help ensure a safe and enjoyable swimming season.

Drowning is a leading cause of death for children, especially those ages 1–4, and the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 5–14. On average, approximately 10 people die from drowning each day in the United States. While children are at the highest risk, drowning can happen to anyone.

Help keep your family safe by following these important safety tips:

🛟 Ensure everyone has basic swimming and water safety skills. Swimming lessons can begin as early as age 1.

🛟 Always designate a responsible adult to provide close, constant, and attentive supervision whenever children are near water.

🛟 Use U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets when boating, swimming in open water, or whenever appropriate.

🛟 Remember that floaties, water wings, inflatable rings, and similar items are toys—not safety devices.

🛟 Learn how to recognize a swimmer in distress and become CPR certified. Quick action can save a life.

🛟 Never swim alone. Always use the buddy system.

🛟 Avoid alcohol while swimming, boating, or supervising swimmers, as it can impair judgment and slow reaction times.

🏡 Backyard Pool Safety

If you have a pool at home, take extra steps to prevent unsupervised access:

🛟 Install and maintain barriers that completely enclose the pool.

🛟 Use self-closing, self-latching gates, along with locks and alarms on doors and windows that provide access to the pool area.

🛟 Remove toys, floats, and other attractive items from the pool area when not in use.

🛟 Keep rescue equipment and a phone nearby in case of an emergency.

A few simple precautions can make all the difference. Let's work together to keep our families, friends, and neighbors safe around the water this summer.

Day 4 of Firefighter Camp was another huge success!

Today, the kids had an awesome time learning about our assistant chief’s falcon and the important role these incredible birds can play. They also got hands-on experience with a Stokes basket, learning how firefighters safely rescue and carry patients out of rough terrain and hard-to-reach areas.

To top it all off, Sparky the Fire Dog made a special visit, which was definitely a highlight of the day!

These kids are learning so much while making memories they’ll never forget. We can’t wait for Water Day tomorrow—it’s sure to be a splash!

Day 3 of Summer Fire Camp was another great day! We learned so much as Matt with EMA came out and taught us all about emergency management and the different emergency response vehicles. We also had a police officer visit with K-9 Weasel, and the kids loved getting to meet and learn about his important job. It was a day full of hands-on learning, great demonstrations, and lots of fun. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Day 2 of Firefighter Camp was a huge success! 🚒🔥

Today, the campers had the incredible opportunity to learn valuable fire safety skills through hands-on experiences. A special thank you to Oak Ridge firefighter Kevin for bringing a live fire demonstration and allowing the kids to safely experience what it’s like to extinguish a real fire.

Campers also participated in a window escape maze, where they learned important techniques for safely escaping a burning home and what to do in an emergency situation. To top it all off, they got the chance to operate a real fire hose and experience firsthand some of the skills firefighters use every day.

It was an exciting day filled with learning, teamwork, and unforgettable experiences. We are so grateful to all of the firefighters and volunteers who took the time to invest in these kids and teach them life-saving fire safety skills. 🚒❤️

The department recently had the opportunity to promote several of our dedicated members into leadership roles within the organization. These individuals have faithfully served the department, demonstrated a strong commitment to our mission, and have earned the respect of their fellow members through their hard work, professionalism, and dedication.
