🩺DocPrep 2026 – Days 1 & 2 Highlights! 🩺

The South Texas ISD Medical Professions Angels have officially arrived in Houston for DocPrep 2026!

🚍 Day 1: After a long journey from the Rio Grande Valley, our students made a fun stop at Buc-ee’s before arriving in Houston. The evening began with a delicious Texas BBQ dinner alongside fellow attendees and sponsors from across the state, providing an opportunity to build new connections and prepare for an exciting week ahead.

📚 Day 2: Students kicked off the program with engaging workshops focused on College Development and Communication Skills, gaining valuable insights to help them prepare for their future academic and professional journeys.

🏥 During lunch at Houston Methodist Hospital, students had the special opportunity to reconnect with former Medical Professions Angels, Valeria Garcia and Daniella Guerrero, who are currently participating in a 6-week summer program at Rice University. Their success continues to inspire our current students as they pursue their own healthcare career goals.

🎨👩‍⚕️ The afternoon featured career rotations in Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and Medical Illustration, exposing students to unique and rewarding healthcare professions.

🍔 The day concluded with dinner at In-N-Out Burger before students returned to continue their learning. The evening was dedicated to completing their “Why” reflection assignment, helping them define the purpose and passion behind their healthcare journey. Students also spent time practicing suturing and knot-tying skills in preparation for Thursday’s highly anticipated Skills Day.

✨ From professional development and career exploration to hands-on skill building and personal reflection, our Angels are making the most of every opportunity at DocPrep 2026. We are proud of their dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to becoming the next generation of healthcare leaders!

Throughout this incredible experience, Noemi had the opportunity to develop her leadership skills, engage with inspiring mentors, connect with students from across Texas, and explore pathways to higher education and future careers.

We are proud of Noemi for representing South Texas ISD Medical Professions with excellence, determination, and leadership. We can’t wait to see the positive impact she will continue to make in her school, community, and beyond!

🌟 What an incredible experience at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis! 🌟

With over 15,000 attendees from across the nation, our South Texas ISD Medical Professions students had the opportunity to learn, grow, and represent our school on a national stage.

Throughout the conference, students participated in engaging workshops, expanded their professional networks, connected with future healthcare leaders, and created memories that will last a lifetime. They also showcased their skills by competing in Job Seeking Skills, Nutrition, and Forensic Science events.

A special congratulations to our Forensic Science team for earning a Top 10 finish in the nation! 🎉🏆
We are incredibly proud of all our students for stepping outside their comfort zones, embracing new opportunities, and representing Medical Professions with excellence.

The future of healthcare is bright! 💙✨

Happy Father’s Day! 🩵

Today we celebrate the incredible fathers who are part of our Angel family: our teachers, faculty, staff, and the fathers of our Angel students.

Thank you for the strength, wisdom, encouragement, and love you share each day. Your dedication and example make a lasting impact both at home and within our school community.

We wish all of our Angel dads a wonderful Father’s Day filled with joy, laughter, and cherished time with loved ones. 🩵

Our twenty STISD Medical Professions students had the opportunity to explore a variety of healthcare and STEM pathways through presentations, tours, and experiences across the Texas A&M campus. 
 
Highlights from the week included: 
 
Monday 
* Visit to the College of Medicine, including a presentation by the JAMP Program Manager 
* Guided tour of the Texas A&M Health Simulation & Immersive Learning Center within the Health Professions Education Building 
* Admissions presentation from the College of Nursing 
* Guided tours of the Small and Large Animal Hospitals and laboratory classrooms at the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences 

Tuesday 
* Presentation from the Associate Dean of the School of Public Health 
* Guided tour of the TEES Nuclear Engineering & Science Center and Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station 

Wednesday 
* Guided tour of TEEX Brayton Fire Field and Disaster City 
* Tour of Rudder Tower and the main Texas A&M campus 
 
Thursday 
* Visit to the Department of Biomedical Engineering, where associate professors led demonstrations and tours highlighting research in Biophotonics (how light interacts with biological matter such as tissues, cells, and molecules)

Friday 
* Movie outing and time at Aggie Park before returning home 

The week provided our students with meaningful exposure to careers in medicine, nursing, veterinary medicine, public health, engineering, and emergency response while giving them a firsthand look at life as an Aggie. 👍🩵

Due to the current weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution, we will be closing today's summer camps effective immediately.

Students who are currently on campus may be picked up by their parents/guardians and will be transported home via their bus transportation. Staff will continue to monitor weather conditions closely to ensure students arrive home safely.

All camps and on-campus activities for this week are canceled. If your child was scheduled to take a state assessment this week, that has been canceled and will be rescheduled. All STC and UTRGV courses for this week are canceled as well.

We appreciate your understanding as the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority.
