EDGE Encounter is a career exploration experience for areas 8th graders developed by Logan County Chamber of Commerce and Logan Economic Alliance for Development LEAD. It serves as the launch point of the five-year EDGE (Educating and Developing Generations for Employment) program, which introduces students to local workforce opportunities and helps them begin thinking about future career paths. Thank you to all the volunteers that made today a huge success and a GREAT learning opportunity for our 8th graders!

Mrs. Orndorff’s other 8th grade STEM class have also been researching bridge design. Students then collaborated with their group members to make an innovative plan to build a bridge for the strength contest. Some even used Leonardo da Vinci’s self- supporting bridge design shared with them by the first group of 8th grade! Look at how much their bridges could hold! 💪 A class full of COLLABORATORS, INNOVATORS, COMMUNICATORS, GLOBAL CITIZENS, and EMPOWERED LEARNERS 💪

Students in Mrs. Engler’s 8th grade science class were highly engaged in a hands-on dissection lab. As empowered learners, students were able to choose the organism they wanted to dissect, allowing them to take ownership of their learning while exploring anatomy and organ systems. Activities like this help students better understand how body systems work together in living organisms while hitting all of our Profile of Success indicators—collaborators, communicators, innovators, empowered learners, and global citizens.
