Families receive home visits where certified parent educators work with their child and the parents! Families are invited to group connections on various parenting topics. ble community resources. Your child receives free developmental, social-emotional, health, vision and hearing screenings every 6 months. Program Mission: The mission of Community Support Systems' ABC Children's Program, is to strengthen parents as their babies' first and most influential teachers, to promote understanding of child development and to facilitate access to community resources that will enable families to foster strong parent-child relationships.

Although we don’t use this page much, anyone can refer someone (or refer yourself) to this FREE and very valuable program! We are located in Olney, IL but we serve the counties of Crawford, Edwards, Jasper, Lawrence, and Richland. This FREE program has been around for over 25 years. We offer a personal visiting program where we emphasize child development and parenting, as well as, connect families to valuable community resources. We also provide group connections and play groups for those enrolled. If you have a child ages 0-3 or are expecting a child, please give me a call in the Olney office at 217-718-3625. I would be happy to tell you a little bit more about this FREE program and how it can really give your child a “jumpstart” and provide a lot of support to you as the parent.

The ABC Children’s Program is a completely FREE PROGRAM for families who are expecting a child OR families with children ages 0-3. These families may live in Crawford, Edwards, Jasper, Lawrence or Richland counties. The program focused on child development, family well-being and development centered parenting. We have a toy lending library and your child receives a free book every month. There are optional group connections on various topics and fun family events throughout the year. The program is funded by the Illinois State Board of Education’s Prevention Initiative Grant and is nationally endorsed as a Blue Ribbon Affiliate through Parents as Teachers National Center. Our staff has been working especially hard these last couple of weeks to increase our knowledge of early childhood practices and finding new ways to connect with families. Our newest Parent Educator Lynda attended training and is now certified to use the Parents as Teachers Program. Congratulations, Lynda! Kristi and Ann attended the Sharing a Vision Conference which was AMAZING! We learned so much and the brainstorming with other attendees between sessions was wonderful! The whole staff will be attending the Prevent Child Abuse Illinos Conference this week. It's a tough subject and we know that conference will have a different "feel" to it than Sharing a Vision, but we are excited to learn new strategies for keeping kids and families safe. Then, next week, life will hopefully return to normal and we can put all of our focus back on helping moms and dads be the very best parents they can be. Have a great week, everybody!
