We are a local women-run non-profit organization with a mission to protect urban forests from development and provide outdoor holistic education opportunities for children and communities to connect with the wisdom and medicine in nature.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our NatureWise Enrichment Program at Fern Gully Forest School! To celebrate, we’re offering a FREE Drop-In Day for kids ages 6–12. Plus 50% off your first month if you enroll for Mondays &/or Thursdays!

🌿 Exciting News from Fern Gully Forest School!

We are thrilled to announce the opening of the Community Nature Center in collaboration with Fern Gully Forest School! This partnership allows us to expand our outdoor learning programs, further supporting our mission to get children outside and learning through play, inquiry, observation, experimentation, and creativity.

New programs include: Homeschool enrichment classes for kids 6-12 that integrate hands-on academics with social-emotional learning, wilderness awareness, and important life skills!

The opening of our Community Nature Center is more than just expanding our programs—it's about creating a hub for community connection. We’re excited to bring families together and foster a supportive, caring, and engaged community that shares our love for holistic child development.

We're so Excited for this Partnership with Fern Gully Forest School and Forest Friends for Nature-based Holistic Education. We're opening the new Community Nature Center at the beloved Fern Gully Forest, a hidden gem in the heart of the city of magical woodland with legacy trees and a beautiful creek.🌀🌳

ANNOUNCEMENT! We are happy to share that the loan from the WA Community Reinvestment Association has been officially approved! We are purchasing the neighbors property and protecting 2 acres of Fern Gully Forest with the creek access.

Look at those sweet little apple trees that the kids have already grown to love and climb on our excursions across the forest to the garden at the new Community Nature Center. 😍

We'll finally be getting the keys in the next couple weeks! Big celebrations and more to come. Stay tuned!

Summer Camps at the New Community Nature Center and Forest School Currently Have Space in August for Natural History Month!

Aug 5-9th: Prehistoric Period - Dinosaurs & Archeological Digs

Aug 12-16th: Ice Age - Glaciers & Volcanos: How Fire & Ice Formed our Landscapes

Aug 26-30th: Ecology of the PNW: Wildlife, Medicinal Plants & Wildcrafting

BREAKING NEWS: the development company listed the Big Cedar Grove properties in Fern Gully Forest for sale!‼️

Please help us spread the word. We need people who want to invest in a small-but-mighty urban forest conservation project.

We're working with the Washington Community Reinvestment Association to protect the creek access and 2.5 acres of the forest with the new Community Nature Center property next to the Cedar groves. However, they don't fund raw land and we don't know any other nonprofit loans or grants that are currently available. We need your help now!
There's a lot of legal fees and costs involved in the process of protecting the forest, so even small donations MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!
