Nominate Your School for the Culture Kickoff Award! šŸŽ‰

Great school culture doesn’t just happen—it’s something students and adults intentionally create together. The AWSL/AWSP Culture Kickoff Award celebrates schools that start the year by building connection, belonging, and school spirit—and keep that momentum going all year long.

Did your school kick off the year with an unforgettable assembly, creative theme, welcoming tradition, or student-led experience? We want to hear your story!

Nominations for the 2026 AWSL/AWSP Culture Kickoff Award are open through September 25. šŸ†

Students, principals, assistant principals, superintendents, teachers, district staff, and community members can all nominate a school.

Show us how your school is setting the tone for an incredible year!
Nominate your school at https://awsp.org/programs/culture-kickoff-award/

To be eligible to win, schools must have active AWSP and AWSL memberships.

AWSP is closed today, Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, Juneteenth is recognized as a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice.

We wish our members and partners a meaningful Juneteenth and will resume normal business hours on Monday.

We know it’s not easy to step away right now.

Budgets are tight. Time is limited. The work is demanding.

But as Dr. Scott Seaman (AWSP) and Jeff Snell (WASA share in this message, there’s something powerful about coming together as school leaders—to reflect, celebrate your impact, and recharge for what’s ahead.

This year’s message says it best: We’re better together.

Join us at the 2026 Summer Conference in Spokane.
