Alex Phillips is ready to lead SkillsUSA Washington into the 2026–27 year as State President, representing Arlington High School.

Resilient, innovative, and a trailblazer, Alex is passionate about making a difference both within SkillsUSA and in her community. One topic especially important to her is raising awareness around dyslexia and speech impediments.

Alex’s favorite quote, “If something feels hard, it is the right path,” reflects her willingness to take on challenges and keep moving forward.

To Alex, SkillsUSA is more than competition. It is a community of students, educators, and business partners working together to empower skilled professionals, career leaders, and responsible community members.

We’re excited to have Alex leading the way as SkillsUSA Washington LEVELS UP.

There was even more to celebrate at this year’s State Directors Association Professional Conference!

Along with SkillsUSA Washington earning the Gold Standard of Excellence, Executive Director Karmen Warner represented Washington in another important way. Karmen serves as the national Region 5 Representative for the State Directors Association and helped plan this year’s conference with her fellow board members, bringing state leaders from across the country together to connect, learn and strengthen SkillsUSA.

We’re proud to have Karmen representing Washington and the Associations at the national level.

And what a great group of leaders to be part of!

Meet Abby Hill, our 2026–27 Vice President from Spokane Valley Tech.

Passionate, ambitious, and genuine, Abby is someone who believes strongly in trying new things, getting involved, and discovering what motivates you. Outside of SkillsUSA, Abby enjoys political organizing and debate, and would love to lead a workshop on finding new activities and pursuing what you love.

Abby sees SkillsUSA as much more than an organization. It is a community built around growth, connection, mentorship, and the chance to develop both technical and personal skills.

As Vice President, Abby is ready to help SkillsUSA Washington LEVEL UP and create even more opportunities for members to grow.

Kinley Hardwick is stepping into the role of 2026–27 Secretary for SkillsUSA Washington, representing Pierce County Skills Center.

Kinley is outgoing, respectful, and never afraid to be herself. Her favorite motto says it best: “I know who I am, and I won’t let anyone decide that for me.”

She is also passionate about teamwork and the difference strong collaboration can make, whether in competition, the classroom, or the workplace. When she is not involved with SkillsUSA, you might find her at a car meet with a bag of kettle corn PopCorners nearby.

Kinley sees SkillsUSA as a chance for students to prove what they are capable of and show the value they can bring to their future industries.

We’re excited to have her helping lead the way as we LEVEL UP this year.
