At a ceremony May 28, the Public Disclosure Commission dedicated its meeting room to Jolene Unsoeld, the late state legislator and Congresswomen who was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the PDC.

“She had a backbone of steel,” said former state Sen. Karen Fraser of Olympia. “You need to have that to work on these issues and a lot of the other big issues she worked on.”

Candidate filing week is May 4-8! Most candidates in Washington must file a campaign registration (C-1) and personal financial affairs report (F-1) within two weeks of beginning their campaign - this could include publicly announcing a candidacy, booking space for an advertisement or accepting contributions.

Washington state is transferring secure access providers from Secure Access Washington (SAW) to WA.gov.

Starting today, PDC filers will need to sign in to our online reporting systems using a WA.gov account.

Governor Bob Ferguson has appointed a fifth member to the Public Disclosure Commission: Attorney Teebah Alsaleh.

“Giving back has always been important to me,” she said, adding that she is eager to learn more about the PDC’s role in promoting political transparency in Washington. “I am deeply interested in helping bring transparency to the public and in supporting enforcement of campaign finance and disclosure rules.”

Alsaleh’s first meeting with the PDC will be May 28.

Welcome to Matthew Segal, our newest Commissioner!

“Now more than ever it's important that we act with transparency and that we get it right when it comes to campaigns and elections,” Segal said, adding that he is looking forward to serving as a fair and neutral voice on the Commission and prioritizing education and guidance for filers.

His first meeting with the Commission will be on May 28.
