DSB and the Washington State Chapter of AARP are partnering through the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) to help job seekers age 55 and older gain relevant, up-to-date experience, boost their resumes, and find meaningful, competitive work.

Community Rehabilitation Program Summits

A two-day, professional development opportunities to help CRPs build meaningful partnerships with DSB.

We are expanding, revamping, and even renaming the Preferred Providers Training. They are now the DSB CRP Summits – and they have been expanded to two full days and they’re happening across the state!

Our goal is to team better with CRPs. We want to provide CRPs with access to the tools and information you need to succeed in supporting and placing individuals with visual disabilities in competitive, integrated employment. Summit sessions will cover:

🔹Job Placement: Training in how to engage businesses to help get your customers the careers they want.
🔹Blindness Skills: Learning about the assistive technology and blindness skills our customers use at home and in the workplace.
🔹Contract Support: Guiding you through the processes of documentation and invoicing.
🔹Special Session: If you are a new CRP interested in contracting with DSB, we will have a special session to go over how to sign up. You can attend this session as a standalone or as a part of the larger summit.

Join our Team!

DSB is seeking a Reader/Driver in the Vancouver area.

This position provides reading and driving assistance for transporting blind, low vision, or deaf blind department staff to and from work locations. Driving requirements may consist of short distances, and long distances beyond 60 miles/day. Customer interactions may consist of assisting the individual. Reader-Driver is on-call; work is intermittent, sporadic and does not fit a particular work schedule or pattern. Some lifting maybe included for staff that utilize orientation and mobility aides such as long cane or guide dogs. Work will consist in either a motor vehicle, in an office setting, or at times customer homes. Incumbent may lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Drivers will primarily utilize office assigned state motor pool vehicles. Privately owner vehicles (POV) may be used in exceptions only.
