The Washington State Department of Natural Resources has elevated the fire danger to “Moderate” across all of Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston Counties.
As a result, Land Clearing Burning is now prohibited in those counties due to fire safety concerns.

Congratulations to the 2026-1 graduating class from Thurston County Medic One EMT Class. Last night we celebrated Chance Blackburn, Kylar Carlson, Conner Delgado, Jackson Grant and Eddie Sanchez. These five graduates are the future of West Thurston Fire and we
are excited about it! They are ready to hit-the-ground running and provide emergency services to their community, whatever the emergency may be.

In the fire service, we are bound by a common purpose – to protect and serve. They've trained relentlessly to become the first responders our community can depend on in times of crisis.

It was only a matter of time before State mobilization season kicked into high gear. We have deployed our first unit to assist with active wildfires across the region.

Assisting with the Highway 730/ Twin Sisters Fire that is estimating over 3,500 acres. There are areas near Walla Walla under level 3 evacuations at this time.

The Washington State Fire Mobilization Plan enables a rapid response when local resources are overwhelmed by wildfires, disasters, or other major incidents. Under this plan, the RFA is reimbursed by the State or DNR for the personnel and apparatus sent to assist.

We couldn’t be more proud of our crews for stepping up at a moment’s notice for deployment.

Today, two of our volunteers were honored to take part in the Washington State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service at the Capitol in Olympia.

It is through these meaningful acts of remembrance that we honor the sacrifice, service, and legacy of our fallen brothers and sisters. We will never forget those who gave their lives in service to others.

While sunshine is welcome, hot temperatures can quickly become dangerous. Stay hydrated and keep an eye on children, older adults, outdoor workers, and pets.

Remember: Even on warm days, local lakes and rivers remain dangerously cold. Wear a life jacket and use caution around the water.

Hot weather and dry conditions increase fire danger. Help prevent wildfires by:
• Following burn restrictions
• Fully extinguishing campfires
• Avoiding parking on dry grass
• Securing trailer chains
• Never tossing ci******es from a vehicle
