Volunteers needed
Call Duane 402-651-6963
In conjunction with “Keep Omaha Beautiful” and the City of Omaha, the Karen Western Neighborhood Association will provide free dump site at the Karen-Western School parking lot on Saturday April 28th, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Here is a perfect opportunity to clean out your garages, basements and yards and get ready for summer.
As in the past, we have also arranged to have a trailer available for metals. Please remember, we will not be able to take appliances such as water heaters, air conditioners, refrigerators, stoves, washing machines and dryers, those may be taken to the City Maintenance Facility at 6880 Q Street. We also cannot accept any tires. Rims without tires will be accepted in the metal trailer. However, if you do have tires or tires with rims, they may be dropped off at the Hanscom Park Neighborhood Association clean-up site at 30th and Wright Street. ( St. Adalberts Church South Parking lot).
Yard waste will be another item that we will not be taking. We will provide a voucher that will allow you to take yard waste to River City Recycling at 6404 South 60th Street. We will not be able to take rocks or concrete, liquids or toxic materials such as paint, automotive batteries. Batteries can be taken to any auto parts store. And liquids and hazardous substances can be taken to Under-the-Sink on 120th and F Street.
Unless we get volunteers, we will not be able to provide pick-up for the handicapped or elderly at their homes. If you have a pick up truck and can help, please give me a call at the number listed below.
Volunteers are also needed that day to help unload cars and trucks. If you can help, please give me a call at the number below so we can coordinate your efforts.
And finally, in the interest of saving space and our tax dollars, we ask that you do not bring items that could normally be set out for regular garbage or recyclable curbside collections.
Please remember this is not a service for any commercial company.
And as always, any donation will help pay for the expenses of the clean up. Again, if you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please call Duane Brooks at 402-651-6963.
