🚑 Year of the Neighbor: September Focus Area — Frontline Workers! 🩺
A new month is here, and this September we are shining a spotlight on the dedicated individuals who keep Omaha safe, healthy, and running smoothly every single day: our frontline workers! From grocery clerks and transit operators to nurses, firefighters, and police officers, these neighbors show up for us when we need them most.
This month, let's ask ourselves: How can we be good neighbors to the frontline workers in our community? Here are a few simple ways to show our appreciation:
💬 Say Thank You: A simple, sincere "thank you for everything you do" to a grocery store cashier, healthcare worker, or mail carrier can completely turn their day around.
🤫 Be Mindful of Shift Workers: Many frontline employees work night shifts or long, irregular hours. Keeping noise levels down during the day helps sleeping neighbors get the rest they need.
☕ Small Gestures Go a Long Way: Drop off a gift card to a local coffee shop, leave an extra-kind note for your delivery driver, or bring treats to your neighborhood fire station.
