The Smyth House The CJ Smyth House is a private residence that was built in 1906 and is located in midtown Omaha.

The CJ Smyth House was built in 1906 and is located in the historic Gold Coast District of Omaha, Nebraska. The home was chosen as the ASID Designer Show House twice - first in 1980, and most recently in 2013. The property includes extensive gardens under the canopy of 100 year old oak trees. The home is the private residence of the Herchenbach family, who purchased the property in August, 2013.

I’ve been watching and waiting for lotus flowers and lilies. It didn’t even occur to me that fish babies were coming. And they are here. It looks like maybe 3 different sizes so far. If you need me, I’ll be walking in circles talking to the fish and the snails and the lotus and the lilies.

12 years ago I was learning how to waterproof a cement fountain pond that functioned more like a sieve.

Today - I discovered our new (this season) Japanese goldfish have already had a few sets of babies.

This life is wild.

The fountain has changed, the pond color has changed, some trees have been lost, many more have been planted. One thing remains ever constant - I love calling this magical place HOME.

These are the days.
And these are the day lilies!!

Nebraska dished out some of the most perfect days this week. I’ve successfully spent most of them barefoot more than not, outside more than in, and smiling/humming/dancing pretty much nonstop.

I didn’t used to be a fan of lilies of any type. They smelled too strong & their pollen stained everything. And then I grew my own - quite accidentally - and fell in love.

This magnolia doesn’t know the rules - and I’d like to keep it that way.
