We’re officially one month away from the 2026 Youth Impact Summit!

Inclusive Communities is bringing young people together for a day of meaningful conversations, leadership development, connection, and community building.

This year’s theme, Rooted and Rising, invites students to reflect on where they come from, what grounds them, and how they can grow into the leaders they want to become.

The Youth Summit Advisory Committee has been hard at work shaping this year’s experience, helping guide the themes, conversations, and direction of the summit to ensure it reflects the voices and experiences of young people in our community.

Registration opens September 7 and closes September 21. Spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

As we have come to the end of our Fiscal Year. We are reflecting on the knowledge that some of the most meaningful progress happens when we come together.

Every conversation, shared idea, and new partnership created helps strengthen our community. We have been working alongside youth and program providers in DCYC, learning with our colleagues in the Nebraska Leadership Coalition, and watching inclusive leadership come to life with our IncluCity and LeadDIVERSITY Alumni. Each moment has been a chance to build a place where everyone feels they belong.

We're grateful for everyone who is part of this journey, and we look forward to continuing to partner in our new fiscal year.
Happy IC New Year!

We're excited to welcome two outstanding leaders to the Inclusive Communities Board of Directors!

Please join us in welcoming Dan Harr, a collaborative leader dedicated to building strong relationships and creating opportunities for communities to thrive, and María Arriaga, Executive Director of the Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans, whose leadership advances equity, civic engagement, and inclusive communities across our state.

Their experience, passion, and commitment to building justice will help strengthen our mission, and we're grateful to have them serving alongside us.

Welcome, Dan and María! 💙

As we close out Fiscal Year 2026, we're reflecting not only on this past year, but on decades of building community across differences.

This photo from one of our Walk as One events hosted over 20 years ago captures hundreds of people walking together through downtown Omaha in a powerful demonstration of unity, compassion, and our shared humanity.

Today, we continue to bring community together across differences through our annual Conversations for Change speaker series. This event was born from the belief that creating spaces where people can engage in brave dialogue and learn together is critical to building a just society.

This week, we invite you to join us in a 7-Day Brave Space Challenge: Have one conversation with someone whose perspective is different from your own. Listen to understand, not to be right, and see what you learn.

On International Humanitarian Day, we celebrate the people who choose compassion, service, and inclusion every day.

While we're pausing our Humanitarian Awards this year, our mission continues. Your generosity helps us build more welcoming, inclusive communities through education, advocacy, and engagement.

Leadership is not only about having the loudest voice in the room.

It can look like listening carefully, making space for others, asking thoughtful questions, and choosing courage when conversations are difficult. Through youth and adult leadership opportunities, Inclusive Communities helps people build the skills to lead with care, accountability, and connection.

Take a moment to think about someone who helped you feel like you belonged.

Maybe it was a teacher, a neighbor, a friend, or a coworker. Small acts of kindness and inclusion often stay with us far longer than we realize.
Who helped you feel included? We'd love to hear your story in the comments.

On International Youth Day, we celebrate the young people who are leading with curiosity, courage, and compassion.

Through programs like IncluCity and the Youth Impact Summit, youth have opportunities to build leadership skills, engage in meaningful dialogue, and create connections that strengthen our communities. Their voices aren't just shaping the future; they're making a difference today.

Meaningful conversations can help us see one another more fully.

Across our community, dialogue creates space for people to share experiences, listen across differences, and build relationships rooted in respect. These conversations do not have to be perfect to matter. They simply ask us to show up with honesty, care, and a willingness to learn.

There is so much to celebrate when people come together with a shared commitment to belonging.

Every workshop, youth program, community conversation, and leadership opportunity is a chance to learn from one another and strengthen our community. We're grateful for everyone who continues to show up, participate, and help create a more inclusive Omaha.
