ESL Teen Literacy Center

ESL Teen Literacy Center The Teen Literacy Center is designed to target the academic, social, and emotional needs of ELLs age We are located in the Career Center of the TAC building.

The ESL Teen Literacy Center (TLC) is a program of Omaha Public Schools. The TLC is an alternative high school for newly arrived immigrant and refugee youth who had no, little, or interrupted formal educational prior to their arrival in the United States. We focus on laying the educational foundation that will enable students to successfully transition into a mainstream high school or the workforc

e. Every person is capable of learning. Every person has talent and potential. Our goal at the TLC is to teach students to believe in themselves, work hard, and improve their own futures. Referrals to the TLC are considered on a case-by-case basis. If you have a student you think may qualify, please contact Nickole Carmichael at (402) 557-2434.

Due to the forecasted weather, tomorrow will be a remote learning day. Students, please check Teams/Canvas in the morning for your remote learning day lessons.

Due to the inclement weather, Omaha Public Schools is canceling in-person classes and school related activities for Wednesday, March 5, 2025. It will be a Remote Learning Day for all students. Omaha Public Schools Foundation Kids Club and the Teacher Administrative Center (TAC) will be closed. Teachers will email students with independent learning activities and offer virtual office hours in the morning. If students do not have an iPad at home, we recommend time spent reading. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Stay safe and warm.

Wednesday, February 19th and Thursday, February 20th will be a remote learning day. Students, please check Teams/Canvas in the morning for your remote learning day lessons.

Due to the inclement weather, Omaha Public Schools is canceling in-person classes and school related activities on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025. Both Wednesday and Thursday will be Remote Learning Days for all students. Omaha Public Schools Foundation Kids Club will also be closed. Announcing two days at once is not our normal routine, and we understand the significant impact this has on families we serve. Forecasters have high confidence that dangerously cold temperatures will last into Thursday. Since this extreme weather does not involve monitoring real-time snow totals or road conditions, we wanted families to have as much notice as possible to plan. The latest information will always be posted to www.ops.org/alerts. Stay safe and warm.
