Earlier this summer, we held our 24th Annual Tee Off & Support Wheelchair Sports Golf Tournament at Tiburon in Omaha. ⛳ We lucked out with the weather and another incredible year of support from our golfers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers.

We are so grateful for the incredible support of our golf committee, led by Dan Dolezal. These gentlemen truly give so much of their time and energy to make our tournament a success. 🥰

Proceeds from this event support our programs and services, including our Adapted Sports & Recreation Program for veterans and other adults and children living with a disability.

Bowling continued today with Sets 3 and 4 in the Singles Division. Tomorrow morning is the 5th and final singles set followed by the Roll Off competition to determine the winners of the Scratch, Handicap A, Handicap B, and MS Standup divisions!

Today is the first day of our PVA Bowling Series Nationals - Singles Division! During Opening Ceremonies, Tournament Director David Nelson, Jr. recognized each bowler on the lanes and Stephanie Bushman sang the National Anthem.

There are 5 sets of singles through the weekend, culminating in a roll off on Sunday afternoon. Good luck, Bowlers!

PVA Bowling Series Nationals began this morning with 3 Person Teams competing, followed by the Doubles competition this afternoon at Mockingbird Lanes in Omaha. We are glad to welcome back so many bowlers from across the U.S.!

Opening Ceremonies and Singles competition begins tomorrow morning and runs through Sunday. If you want to see the action, stop by Mockingbird Lanes the next few days!
Friday: 10:30-3:30pm
Saturday: 11-4pm
Sunday: 10-4pm

Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the day that United States troops proclaimed the freedom of enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, in 1865—two-and-a-half years after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

Prior to June 19, many enslavers were aware of the Emancipation Proclamation. But it wasn’t until General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston to read Order No. 3 that the Union Army announced it would enforce the proclamation. With that act, freedom for more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state was affirmed.

This booklet, in the collections of our Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture, was produced in December 1862 for Union soldiers to read and distribute.
