Peering into a old tin box was a wealth of invoices for the Duluth Mercantile for 1911. Shown here is just a sampling of the items purchased for the town at that time. The Duluth Mercantile could be compared to today's Wal-Mart for all the items they made available to the public.

(Sadly, the Museum does not have one of these coins.)

Crocheting with Rheva every Friday in June!!
Drop in between 1:00 and 4:00 on Fridays in June for a crochet lesson from Rheva and/or a bit of advice on something that has stumped you with your crochet project. Rheva will also help you learn how to make a crocheted rag rug.

If you would like to make a rag rug, we will have the fabric available for you at the Museum. Please bring a large crochet hook and a scissors. That's it!

Rheva is passionate about her crocheting and teaching others how to crochet, believing everyone should have a past-time of some sort and also believing it is important that the younger generations learn the needlecraft skills of their grandparents and great-grandparents.

Note the fun some of our previous rug makers have had with Rheva.

Closing the door on the East Morton building last evening brought a sigh of relief when looking at this area of the building -- the general household merchandise area. Thanks to Debbie M, Gretchen K, Vicki F, and Debbie B, after 5 hours of work, this area is coming together. There are still some tweeks to be made and labeling to be written up for the Exhibit.

The Native American display is in the works also.

The next "official" garage sale at the Museum is June 27. In the meantime, the Historical Society has been blessed with several large donations. In order to display these donations, it would be nice to move several large items ahead of time. If you are interested in anything you see here, message for a time to come by the Museum for it. Thank you.

Signs for Duluth, Davenport, Pleasant Valley, and English Ridge are available.

Notice the sign in front of the White Pigeon schoolhouse, designating its location. Numerous of these signs have been planted in the Onaga Historical Society catchment area by Linda R, Rheva B, and Gene G. There are four remaining signs which need to be claimed by someone interested in finding them a "planting".

Message or contact [email protected] to inquire about getting a sign. All signs are free.
