Monday, August 31, 2026 DPW will perform a fire hydrant flush. We do this for basic water maintenance and flow and pressure testing for fire safety. This may cause discolored water. Please run your water until clear before use and be cautious of doing laundry.

Beginning Wednesday, September 2, Town Hall will be closed to routine walk-in traffic on Wednesdays.
Staff will continue working during normal business hours, using Wednesdays for essential administrative and financial work.
Calls will be directed to voicemail and monitored periodically for time-sensitive matters. Regular walk-in service will continue Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Water Leak Repair – Ames Street
The Town’s Department of Public Works will be repairing a water leak on Ames Street on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
Residents in the area should plan for the possibility of temporary water service disruptions while the repair work is underway.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS Kerr Street Water Leak Repair Monday, August 17, 2026 thru Wednesday, August 19, 2026 The Town will be making repairs to a water leak on Kerr Street. During the repair process, residents in the area may experience temporary interruptions in water service or reduced water pressure. Every effort will be made to minimize the disruption and restore normal water service as quickly as possible. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and cooperation while these necessary repairs are completed.

Travis will be heading off in December to take part in the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing program, but until then, he’s part of our crew and ready to lend a hand!

UPDATE: HILL STREET MILLING AND PAVING
Per VDOT, paving on Hill Street is expected to be completed by Friday, August 7, 2026, barring any equipment issues or unforeseen delays.
Pavement striping is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Traffic control measures will remain in place until the project is fully completed; however, motorists should experience fewer disruptions as work progresses.
Please remember that traffic control personnel and signage are in place to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and construction workers. We ask that all drivers obey traffic control devices and follow the directions of flaggers. Ignoring traffic control signs and directions is a ticketable offense.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as VDOT completes these roadway improvements.
