Monona County Public Health/Environmental Health is partnering with Marion County Public Health on a Radon Grant and we have free short term Radon Testing kits for the residents of Monona County! These kits are available only for residential homes, no businesses.

It doesn’t matter if you live in the country or in the city, you can stop in the Monona County Environmental Health office in Onawa and pick up a kit - you have to own your home, no renters please.

This grant also includes Mitigation Financial Assistance up to $2,000 to mitigate your home if you have an elevated Radon level of 4.0 pCi/L.

Rabies is a deadly virus that can spread to people through a bite or scratch of a rabid animal. Bats are small enough to squeeze through a hole the size of a dime, which is why they can be found in a home. If you find a bat indoors, open a window and let it safely fly out. If outside, do not touch it and keep away. If anyone may have been bitten, scratched, or had close contact with the bat, contact your local hospital.
