Scott County Soil & Water Conservation District

Scott County Soil & Water Conservation District The function of the Soil & Water Conservation District is to provide local services to landowners in The value of these assets is immeasurable.

Tennessee is blessed with an abundance of natural resources from rolling hills, fertile lowlands, and wooded mountains to perennial streams, managed reservoirs and wetlands. The stewardship of our natural resources goes hand in hand with the productivity and sustainability of our farms and forests, which contribute billions of dollars to our state's economy each year. As the management of our farm

s and forests is improved, any associated impact to waters of our state is reduced or eliminated. The function of the Conservation District is to take available technical, financial and educational resources, whatever their source, and focus or coordinate them so that they meet the needs of the local land user for conservation of soil, water, and related resources. Conservation district officials serve on a multi member board that establishes and implements programs to protect and conserve soil, water, prime and unique farmland, rangeland, woodland, wildlife, energy and other renewable resources on local, non-federal lands. Duties:
*Identify local conservation needs and develop, implement and evaluate programs to meet them.
*Educate and inform landowners and operators, general public and local, state and federal legislators on conservation issues and programs.
*Supervise other volunteers and paid staff working with district; coordinate with cooperating agency personnel.
*Administer the district by delegating tasks through a structure of board officers and members, committees and others; raise and budget district funds and report on activities to the public.
*Coordinate assistance and funding from federal, state, and local government; district associations; and private groups. NRCS and Scott County Soil & Water Conservation District are an equal opportunity employer.

Please take the attached flier and email it to others, post it on your social platforms, or give it to someone you know that would enjoy spending the afternoon on the mountain with us. The program should be interesting, and we also promise to feed you a wonderful country fried fish dinner and it's all free!!! We have some awesome organizations who have stepped up to sponsor this amazing afternoon. Did I mention it is free!!! We look forward to seeing you on the mountain, May 2nd, where eagles sore and bass live too! If you cannot make it just send someone (or 2 or 3) in your place, and we will "dive" into all things pond management on the mountain in Grundy Co. and it's all free!!! Hey, this would make a great weekend to spend with us on the mountain too and there are many Airbnb's, scenic opportunities for Saturday and Sunday outings and some great food and fun.
