It's that time of year where many employees are taking time off to relax. ☀️🍉⛱️

While using PTO is a great way to recharge, it's important that we find ways to boost our energy and prevent burnout throughout the year. Talk to us about the free wellness trainings we can offer to any business or organization, any time of the year.

As the new school year approaches, August is a great time for parents, caregivers, and mentors to prepare for conversations about cannabis and other substances.

The ASK (Advise, Support, Know) approach, developed by the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), provides a simple and effective way to guide these discussions.

Advise by sharing clear, factual information about cannabis and its effects.

Support by listening openly and without judgment.

Know the facts, risks, and influences that can impact youth decisions.

You don’t need to have one perfect conversation, ongoing, supportive communication can make a lasting difference.

Meet the Team! 👋

Behind every phone call, referral, training, and community partnership is a team dedicated to helping people access the support they need. We thought it was time to introduce ourselves and share a little about the work we do at BRiDGES!

Mollie Dana | Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Coordinator

Mollie coordinates BRiDGES' Employee Assistance Program (EAP), working directly with employers to build healthier workplaces through trainings, consultation, and employee support. She helps employees navigate personal and workplace challenges by connecting them with confidential resources and services that promote well-being.

Mollie says, "My favorite part about my job is the relationships and connections I get to build and maintain daily. I learn something new every day, from both my colleagues and my clients. I love that my position allows me to help at an individual and organizational level. I look forward to continuously learning, growing, and evolving, while providing the space for others to do the same."

Megan Dwyer | Information & Referral Services Coordinator

Megan provides confidential support to individuals seeking help related to problem gambling or use of alcohol, to***co and other drugs. She also supports the Employee Assistance Program by providing mental health support and connecting employees with resources. In addition, she helps lead the Su***de Prevention Coalition of Madison County, working with local partners to strengthen su***de prevention, intervention, and postvention efforts through education, collaboration, and community outreach.

Megan says, "My favorite part about my job is meeting people where they are at with compassion, empathy, and without judgment. Whether someone knows exactly what they need or has no idea where to start, I love being able to listen, help clients find resources and support, navigate complex systems, and remind them that they aren't alone. Building relationships with individuals and community partners and helping connect people to the support they need is incredibly meaningful to me. Knowing that even a single conversation can help someone feel heard, understood, and more hopeful is what makes this work so rewarding."

**Both Mollie and Megan are Certified Employee Assistance Professionals (CEAPs) and have specialized training to respond to critical incidents in the workplace (CIR), providing compassionate support and guidance to organizations and their employees following traumatic events.**

Whether you're an employee looking for support or an employer interested in creating a healthier workplace, we're here to help. If your workplace partners with the BRiDGES Employee Assistance Program, don't hesitate to reach out when you need support. If BRiDGES isn't your Employee Assistance Program, employers are always welcome to contact our office to learn more about how BRiDGES EAP can support their organization and employees. The words we choose matter. 💙

Talking about su***de can feel difficult, but the language we use has the power to reduce stigma, foster understanding, and help people feel seen without judgment.

For example, many people now choose to say "died by su***de" instead of "committed su***de." Historically, the word committed has often been associated with crimes or wrongdoings, which can unintentionally convey blame or shame. In contrast, "died by su***de" simply describes the cause of death while honoring the person's humanity.

Using person-centered, compassionate language acknowledges that people are more than their struggles or experiences. It can help create an environment where individuals feel safer seeking support and where those grieving a su***de loss feel met with empathy rather than judgment.

Changing our language may seem like a small step, but it reflects a larger commitment to treating every person with dignity, respect, and compassion.

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available 24/7.

💙 Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

📍 Madison County Mental Health Crisis Line: 315-366-2327

Every conversation is an opportunity to reduce stigma, offer hope, and remind someone they don't have to face life's challenges alone.
