At this time, the Trust Enrollment Department remains open, but we are implementing preventative actions to slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

If you require assistance from the Trust Enrollment Department that does not require your physical presence, please call our office instead: (920) 869-6200 or 1-800-571-9902. Most of our forms can be found on our website or mailed to you upon request.

If you must be physically present at our office, please use the hand sanitizer provided before signing-in, filling out any forms, or handling any items that will be passed between you and Trust Enrollment staff.

We also encourage members to practice social distancing when coming to our office. The space in our front lobby is very limited, so we also be limiting the number of people in our lobby to 2. If there are 2 people in the lobby, please wait outside.

We understand that these preventative measures are inconvenient. The spread of COVID-19 has made for inconvenient times. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in trying to keep our staff and community safe and healthy.

H.R.1994 - 116th Congress (2019-2020): Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act of 2019

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MINORS TRUST BENEFICIARIES:

Last year, the Oneida Trust Enrollment Department noticed recipients of Minors Trust Distributions that the “2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” changed the tax brackets of the Kiddie Tax which was up to 37% and applicable to a member’s Minors Trust and Per Capita Distribution. While the Trust Enrollment Department worked on informational outreach, we have also worked with other resources within the Oneida Nation to lobby the Federal U.S. Government to remove these unfairly large taxes to Native youths.

In December 2019 the Federal U.S. Government adopted the “Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act” which had provisions repealing the Kiddie Tax brackets. Instead of applying the Kiddie Tax rates based solely on an individual’s unearned income, the rates reverted back to pre-“Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” rates, which means they apply to unearned income based on your parents’/legal guardians’ marginal income.

If you received a Minors Trust Fund Distribution in 2019, your distribution might be applicable to the SECURE Act. We strongly urge you discuss your taxes with a professional tax consultant. The Trust Enrollment Department are not tax professionals and cannot give individual tax advise.

Click the link below to read the summary of the SECURE Act provided by Congress. It may be helpful to mention the SECURE Act to your professional tax consultant when filing your taxes
