Verona makes progress with project grants for Durhamville Sewer District

From The Daily Sentinel

VERONA โ€” The town of Verona released a public adoption notice on June 1, outlining a resubmission of the Durhamville Sewer District, to move ahead with receiving grants to fund the project.
The Durhamville Sewer District, a project established in 2023, will implement and develop a public sewer system throughout the hamlet of Durhamville and connect lines to the city of Oneida to flow into the Cityโ€™s wastewater treatment plant.

Town of Verona Supervisor Scott Musacchio said the town is ready for construction with designs fully in place but is waiting for grants to go through. In about a year or so, Musacchio said, the town will get necessary short-term resources from a $2 million stackable grant and begin construction.

Once started, the project is projected to be completed by late 2028/early 2029. The Town of Verona will be updating the public on progress with the project on their website and will send out documents and information to residents as construction plans approach.

Supporting local history has never been easier or faster!

Historic buildings donโ€™t just stand the test of time on their own, they need constant care, attention, and resources to survive. The Madison County Historical Societyโ€™s beloved 1849 Cottage Lawn mansion is a treasure, but like all historic structures, it faces challenges that modern buildings simply donโ€™t. Aging foundations, delicate woodwork, original windows, specialized materials, and ongoing preservation needs all require skilled hands and thoughtful stewardship.

Every donation helps protect this irreplaceable landmark. Your support allows us to repair and restore historic features, prevent deterioration, improve accessibility, and ensure the building remains safe, welcoming, and true to its original character. When you give, youโ€™re not just helping maintain a structure, youโ€™re preserving the stories, craftsmanship, and heritage that make Madison County unique.

Together, we can keep history standing strong for generations to come.
