Congratulations to this winning tribe of 5th graders from Mrs. Schliermann's class who have spent the last few months playing "Library Survivor," a research skills game inspired by the popular TV show! Each week, tribes, or small groups, have been completing research challenges and presenting their findings to the class, earning points with each challenge solved. The tribe that ultimately scored the most total points today received a check for $1,000,000 - just like on the TV show! πŸ’²πŸ’²πŸ’²

Food coloring, cotton balls & sandpaper?!? Recently, 4th grade library classes discussed the value of Empathy by using food coloring drops in bowls of water as metaphors for how kind words can ripple and spread. We've also discussed the difference between "cotton ball words" (soft, gentle, kind) and "sandpaper words" (scratchy, hurtful, unkind), and how people like themselves have the choice as to which they choose to spread each day...

Ms. Palmer's 3rd grade library class last week finished and shared their recent country research projects, which asked them to use library books to discover facts about another country and use their graphic organizers to create multimedia presentations using Microsoft Sway. They did a really nice job, and to view their projects - as well as those from Mrs. Bellen's 3rd grade library class - from home, just follow the links below!

A few "Thank You!" photos from Kindergarten & 1st grade library classes which I'll be sharing with March Author of the Month, Kat Zhang! She was kind enough to send them a surprise, personalized video greeting after hearing how much we were enjoying her books this month and learning about Asian-American culture!
