Frazier Launches “Backroads Book Club” to Spark Real Conversations About Rural New York

Oneonta, NY —

Democrat Michele Frazier today announced the launch of the Backroads Book Club, a summer reading and community conversation initiative focused on understanding how rural communities see themselves in today’s political landscape.

This summer, participants across the district are invited to read The Rural Voter by Nicholas Jacobs and Daniel Shea, a book exploring the values, frustrations, priorities, and political identity of rural Americans.

“Too often, rural communities are talked about instead of talked with,” said Frazier. “People here care deeply about their towns, their neighbors, and their future .. I want to spend this summer and fall listening and having honest conversations about what rural communities need and how government can better show up for people.”

After the summer reading period, Frazier and her campaign will partner with local book clubs and organize conversations at independent bookstores and libraries throughout the district this fall.

The Backroads Book Club is open to anyone — regardless of political affiliation — who wants to participate in thoughtful discussion about the future of rural New York.
